Wonderful traditional mountain village of Eischoll, in the heart of Wallis/Valais. 2hrs by car from Geneva, under 3hrs by train from Geneva and Zurich. On the south side of the Swiss-German speaking Oberwallis alps. Eischoll is at 1220 meters. Paired together with Unterbaech and Buerchen. Eischoll makes up the Augstbord region with 5 village resorts and 90km of skiing & 100's km walking & biking. Chair lift 5 mins walk away. Much quieter than large busy resorts. It is famed for no waiting times at the lifts and is an area the Swiss themselves use. In such a central location that all the large resorts and Valais tourist locations can be enjoyed by train, bus or car, Crans,Zermatt,Saas-Fee & more!

Changeover day
Changeover day prefered on Saturdays but we are flexible. Check in time from 4pm check out time 10am. This is to allow inspection and cleaning of the apartment. We may be able to change this to fit in with your plans, just let us know.

Notes on accommodation
Fully furnished, very suitable as a family or couples holiday.The apartment is situated in the centre of the village. Large bedroom with double bed, loft mezzanine with 2 beds and space for 2 adults, large bathroom, bath, shower, WC. We can accomodate young children with parents in the main bedroom. We also have a Hauck travel cot for babies and toddlers. Central heating in the apartment always warm. Heating and electricity are included in the price. Large living room, dining area, L shape Sofa. Sat 26" LCDTV, DVD TV/SAT/Freeview. Parking is free in the car park across the street. Apartment is on the top floor of 3 story chalet with only 16 apartments. Spacious with Mirriored Kitchen so the mountains are reflected back into the apartment. Large balcony with table and chairs, morning and evening sun. Fantastic views of the north Rhone Alps from the apartment and the balcony! Large balcony doors and windows show the famous Beitschorn Mountain peak with its glaciers.

Golf
A number of golf courses in the Rhone Valley, Leuk, Sierre, Sion and more. Leuk golf course is a full 18 hole course in the valley surrounded by the beautiful mountain scenery.
Skiing
You really are in Wonderland. No queuing at the ski lifts as this is a quiet resort that the Swiss themselves use. You can even ski from one village to another via inter linking ski piste’s and ski lifts. There is a good variety of, (30% easy, 40% intermediate, 30% difficult) skiing. Sledging runs and walking trails are a good way to spend a day off away from the slopes. The Skiing area is between 1220 and 2500m above sea level and is snow sure during the winter months. A skipass allows you to use 5 different village resorts and kids under 9 are free. A sports bus runs between them, with a stop just outside the apartment. Not only do you have the excellent Eischoll ski pistes but also other resorts that are all close by. You can use Eischoll as a base to visit famous resorts nearby. Close Famous Resorts; Saas-Fee Cran-Montana, Riederalp, Bettmeralp, Leuk, Zermatt and more all close. At any time of year, a stay at our apartment in Eischoll is a great holiday for couples or a family.
Special interest holidays
Miles and miles of Skiing, snowboarding, walking, hiking, mountain biking and much more in the surrounding area. Of course scenery and mountain air! These activities are what the region does best. 90km of Ski Piste, sledging runs and snow sport activities. Choose from 5 different villages to ski. The area really is set up for winter sports but you don't have to worry about crowds of people and you hardly every have to look over your shoulder on the piste's. Superb SwissSki ski instructors and ski school for kids and adults. Enroll kids for 5 day deals and adults too!
Enjoy!
100's of km's of Walking and hiking, and amazing biking or mountain biking. Pre marked trails and tracks with off road walking and biking available of varying difficulty. Take it easy with a stroll in the alps or be adventurous and trek through the forests and discover beautiful mountain lakes and scenery. Almost every view is a postcard, but with less tourists than busy resorts, you have it all to yourselves!
Travel
Geneva Airport. Its a 2 hour drive mostly by motorway. Then from Turtmann to Eischoll is a mountain road which is accessible all year round. A good wide road. From collecting your car to arriving at the apartment is just under 2 hours. The Swiss trains are excellent and from Raron the cable car takes you to within 50meters of the apartment. 23 Dec to 14 Apr Gatwick to Sion/Flybe departs Saturdays. Sion is 40 min. New train! Zurich Airport to Eischoll 2hr55. Through the new Loetschberg tunnel.

By car. 54 mins to car park at Täsch for Zermatt. 46 mins to Saas Fee. 52 mins to Belalp for Aletsch Glacier. 36 mins to Leukerbad. 50 mins to Crans Montana. 32 mins to Brig. 35 mins to Riederalp. 82 mins to Verbier. 15 mins to nearest large town of Visp (Glacier Express). See SBB website Sbb.ch/en for train times and connections. The train is very pleasant and beautiful journeys. Train Geneva airport-Eischoll 2 hrs 55 mins. Zurich airport-Eischoll 2 hrs 50 mins. Further details
In Summer Eischoll and the Ober-Wallis area really comes into its own. Snow capped peaks and amazing scenery along with superb warm weather! Plenty of walking and hiking trails and also mountain biking on your doorstep and all over the area. Ski piste’s transform into summer meadows and fields amongst the alpine forests. Live the outdoor healthy Swiss life in Eischoll.
There are lovely traditional Swiss mountain restaurants in the area. One just below the apartment. 2 others in Eischoll as well as 4 in neighbouring Unterbaech and many in Buerchen. There are also lovely restaurants up the mountain en route on the walking trails and on the ski piste's. They all cater in traditional Swiss dishes such as Raclette and Fondue. As well as gorgeous selections of other lesser known Swiss dishes. As you can imagine steaks on the mountain are a must. A Walliser Teller is something that must be tried. Dry meats and cheese always washed down with a Walliser Beer!
There is a bank and with ATM 5 mins walk. Post office, Pay phone, Cable car stop and Mini Supermarket across from the apartment. A sports/ski shop right next to the apartment complex from which you can hire ski's and equipment. Within the complex is the Schwarzhorn bar/ restaurant with outside seating. Perfect on warm winter days. Tourist Office in Eischoll and neighbouring Unterbaech. They have information on the whole region. The tourist office has the details of everything and anything in the area and in the whole of Valais. Ski Passes can be bought at the tourist office. Ski shop which is next to the complex. There is also plenty of free parking right opposite the apartment building. 200meters to nearest Chair lift which starts you on your skiing day around the mountains.
Visp, 15mins down the mountain, can cater for all other needs with shops and large supermarkets. Swimming pool complex, train stop for the Glacier Express.

Booking notes
After contact a booking form will be Emailed to you with terms and conditions. Sign and send the form back with a cheque or bank transfer for 25% of the full letting sum. The balance plus a refundable £75 security deposit is required eight weeks prior to the letting. If a booking is within 8 weeks the full amount plus security deposit required. We can also pay the local tax for you or it can be paid locally. Local tax per night 2.10chf(£1.25p) per adult, 1.40chf(90p) child 7-16yrs 6- under free.

About the owner
Our apartment has been in our family for a number of years. We love the walks and scenery, our younger members enjoy the mountain biking and in Winter we all enjoy putting on the ski boots!
Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
This is Real Switzerland, a place that is little known outside of Switzerland. It has been described by one of our guests as being "Undiscovered Switzerland". Eischoll is a beautiful mountain village, very central to enjoy all the benefits that Valais has to offer, yet with so much on the door step, there is little need to go far to enjoy yourself. Come and explore Oberwallis (upper-Valais), take the pace as fast or as slow as you like, and Enjoy it from the comfort of our apartment! In Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. You'll have a great time.
Unique benefits of the property
Mostly the view from the living room looking across at 3-4000meter peaks on the other side of the valley. The view hits you from the bedroom, living room and balcony. It's as exciting and relaxing as the pace you set. Sometimes I walk on the miles of walking routes and stop off for a drink and some Walliser specialities and sometimes I just stay around the apartment staring at the view. Its really up to you, so much to do or as little as you want.
The thing I love most is starting off the day with a coffee, whilst watching the early morning sun reflect off the snow capped peaks on the other side of the valley. It gives me a feeling of peace. Then of excitement of what I am going to experience today. We'd love to have you get that feeling here too! You will when you stay at our apartment.
