Golf
There are a number of golf courses within an hours drive - but the closest are Sion & Verbier approx 30 mins. Situated in the heart of the Rhône valley in the plains of the Grand-Champsec, Sion Golf Club enjoys a wonderful sunny climate. Its 18 holes extend over 42 acres and are overlooked by the castles of Valère and Tourbillon. The golf course, bordered by the Rhône to the north and the Borgne forest to the east, is full of interesting challenges. Devoid of unnecessary or manmade obstacles, the course has large fairways and ample greens. There is a first class driving range together with a restaurant and bar.

In Verbier, the course has been built at an altitude of 1600m. This mountain course dominates the area with each hole providing stunning views of the surrounding mountain ranges, Combin, Rogneux & Mont-Blanc. This singular aspect of course design makes the walking easy and a round of golf enjoyable for players of all ages.

Skiing
Champex provides excellent skiing opportunities for all levels & is best recommended for beginners, intermediates, families and skiiers looking for challenging offpiste and tree skiing. The ski touring is particulary good. The pisted areas are served by 4 lifts and covers 25km of varied uncrowded terrain, from a level of 2,200m at La Breya. Its north facing aspect provides a long season with good quality snow that many south facing resorts lack late in the season. Skiiers from nearby resorts, such as Verbier come to Champex to enjoy the uncrowded off piste where fresh snow can be found long after a snow fall.

With the purchase of a Valais Ski Card, and a driving time of approximately 30 mins, the extensive areas of the 4 valleys and the Grand St Bernand area can be accessed from Verbier (via Le Chable) and Super St Bernard, with the latter offering excellent off piste possibilities.Within an hours drive, the Swiss Port du Soleil and the Chamonix Valley can also be enjoyed.

Travel
Approx 1½ - 1¾ hour’s from Geneva airport, where a hire car can be rented. Make sure you arrive before 11:30pm to pick up your car as the rental desks shut at that time. Alternatively, from the airport, there is a train to Martigny and then a 15 min taxi journey, or continue on the train to Osieres and take the Saint Bernard Express.

Distances
By car: Geneva 1½-1¾ hour’s. Lausanne 1-1¼ hour’s. Montreux 30-40 mins. Martigny 15 mins. Verbier and Sion 30 mins. Saint Bernard 40 mins. Chamonix 1 hour.
Immediately outside the building is the entrance road to the village from Osieres (which is 9km down the valley) and the bus stop for the Saint-Bernard Express. Across the road is the eastern edge of the Lac de Champex. In the immediate vicinity is a mechanical repair garage (opposite), a bar/cafe and small hotel (next door) with a cafe.
