3 star, well maintained, 2 bedroom self-catering apartment is on the 1st floor of traditional wooden chalet building and enjoys breathtaking views across the Rhone Valley from the south facing balcony. It is situated in the centre of Anzère village, close to all amenities, shops, restaurants, and the open air pool in Summer. The gondola is only a 5 minutes' walk, or 1 minute by shuttle bus.Anzère is a small and friendly mountain village, in the Swiss Valais, close to Crans-Montana. Perched on a south facing mountain plateau, overlooking the Rhone valley, at an altitude of 1500m. Anzère is renowned for both its sunny climate and the sunny disposition of the locals. Under 2 hours from Geneva airport. In Winter you can ski 40km of pistes, to an altitude of 2500m. Excellent for intermediates and families. In Summer, stunning mountain vistas are the backdrop for long sunny days spent walking, biking, golfing, exploring cultural attractions, or just relaxing by the village pool.

Changeover day
Saturday to Saturday bookings. Short breaks of 3 or more nights may also be available outside peak season.

Linen and towels available to hire from our local management company, at 20 Swiss Francs per person. On departure we ask that you leave the apartment clean and tidy or alternatively cleaning service is available at additional 120 Swiss Francs. |
Notes on accommodation
Underfloor heating; also open fireplace. Serviced by lifts and stairs. Free parking in village car park opposite. We regret no smoking in the apartment.
Accessibility
The property is on the 2nd floor but there is a lift.
Outside
Private South-facing balcony, with table and chairs. 180 degree views across Rhone valley and to the high peaks of the Valais Alps. Balcony overlooks the village outdoor heated pool (2 minutes' walk).
The apartment is located just off the pedestrianised main village square, which is the hub of village life and where Gluhwein is served to all the village's guests once a week.
Golf
10 superb golf courses in the Valais, the nearest, all of which are within 20 kms, being:
• Crans-Montana - 18 hole Severiano Ballesteros course (max handicap 36) is the finest golf course in the Alps and hosts the European Masters tournament each September. Greg Norman wrote: 'this is by far the most spectacular tournament site in the world'. Also the 9 hole Jack Nicklaus course (with handicap) and the Noas 9 hole par 3 and the Super Crans "Pitch and Putt" courses which are open to all.
• Sion - On the plains of the Rhone valley, overlooked by the castles of Valère and Tourbillon. 18 hole, par 70. Offers a warm welcome to guests with a handicap. Also fun and mini golf courses for all.
• Sierre - 9 holes in serene, natural surroundings.
Skiing
Whilst not as well known as its neighbour Crans-Montana, Anzère is a gem of a resort. As an attractive, smaller ski village, Anzère is a refreshing change from many of the soulless purpose-built resorts in the Alps. It retains its own unique character, and is renowned for friendly locals and vibrant après-ski. The variety of pistes should keep all but the most advance skiers happy for a week.
Ski data:
1 modern gondola, 2 chairlifts, 8 draglifts. 40 km of marked pistes. Longest run 6km. 15 runs - 2 advanced, 11 intermediate, 2 beginner. Good off-piste. Snowboard park and halfpipe at 1900m. Illuminated slope for night skiing. 5 snow cannons. 4 mountain restaurants.
Only 5 minute walk to ski gondola, which rarely has long queues; or 1 minute by ski bus, which stops just outside the apartment. Possible to ski back to within 100m of the apartment.
Ski pass very reasonably priced: adult 6 days 215 CHF (£93). English speaking Swiss Ski School. Beginners’ ski lift in the village.
Special interest holidays
Anzère is ideal for active outdoor holidays :-
Winter: Not just downhill skiing! 6km of cross-country trails. Over 30km winter footpaths. Guided snowshoe hikes. 2 toboggan runs. Heli-skiing on the Wildhorn Glacier (3,247m). Parapenting school. Indoor swimming pool, sauna, gym.
Summer: Heated outdoor pool 2 minutes from the apartment, tennis, golf, mountain biking, parapenting school, rock climbing.
For hikers (and strollers) a network of 166km of marked footpaths surrounds the village. Take the Gondola to access higher trails, or follow the 'bisses', irrigation channels unique to the Valais through forests and vineyards. Keen hikers can head up into the high Audannes mountains, beneath the Wildhorn.
Children's Activity Club in peak season. Excellent adventure play area in village square.
Travel
It can be accessed easily from Geneva airport (Easyjet), in under 2 hours by road (route N9, exit Sion), or by regular and reliable public transport - rail and postbus -with direct connections from the airport. At some times of year there are also flights to Sion airport from the UK.

Anzère lies in the Valais canton of Switzerland, with all that this ‘holiday kingdom’ has to offer; for example:
Historic Sion (13km) 30 minutes’ away, Switzerland's oldest town, for its Old Town, castles, market and museums
Boutiques of nearby Crans-Montana are a shoppers' paradise.

'The resort lies at 1500 metres and the fantastic skiing rises to over 2400 metres. The people of Anzere are exceptionally friendly, and the atmosphere is very relaxed, both on and off the piste. Anzere is an excellent choice for families, with good English speaking ski schools. The long sunshine hours provide a stunning view at the late hours, one of the best in the Alps.'
