Chalet Balthazar Apt 5

Apartment 5 is a 110m2 three double/twin bedroom, three bathroom second floor penthouse apartment which benefits from vaulted wooden ceilings which lends the apartment a great sense of space.
The open plan solid oak kitchen with granite worktops has a ‘Falcon’ Rangecooker with double oven and six gas burners and the latest appliances. The kitchen leads onto the living/dining area with fireplace and two balconies with tables and chairs. The three generous double/twin bedrooms (two ensuite) all face south so one can appreciate the stunning views of the ‘Dents du Midi’ mountains. The bedrooms and relaxing areas walls are finished in warm antique wood or rustic plaster and have oak parquet flooring. Underfloor heating throughout completes the picture. The apartment has a separate storage room on the lower ground floor.
Apartment 5 is fully furnished with a mix of modern and “chalet chic” furniture. If you don’t feel like venturing out onto the slopes, the living area has a large flat.

Coast/Beach
The nearest beach is east of Genoa approx 300 miles or 4 hrs drive through the Grand St. Bernard tunnel and on fast autostradas down through Northern Italy. The beach on Lac Leman (Lake Geneva) is at Bouveret 12 miles or 30 mins drive.

Golf
Villars is blessed with a world-class 18-hole golf course located in an amazing mountain location at 5300ft (1600m). The golf course and its superb restaurant are perched on a south-facing plateau where you can play a round, enjoy drinks or a meal amid some of the most stunning views of the Alps and Mont-Blanc. For those wishing to learn how to play, individual lessons or week-long group programmes for all levels can be arranged with PGA certified professionals in this most relaxed, unique and beautiful setting. The Club is open from mid-May to October and can be accessed by the funicular railway from Villars station or by road.

Skiing
In winter, 75 ski lifts connect 220km of slopes and a chairlift connection to the neighbouring resort of ‘Les Diablerets’ enables year-round skiing on the glacier at 3,000m. Sledging, ice-skating, Nordic skiing and snowshoe walking provide skiers and non-skiers with endless possibilities. Two respected ski schools provide expert tuition and children under 9 benefit from free ski passes. For those who like to ski in a different resort everyday, Verbier is 40 mins away, Chamonix 1hr 15mins, Les Portes du Soleil (Champery, Avoriaz & Morzine) 40 mins and Gstaad 1hr. Crans Montana, Saas Fee and Zermatt are further afield but all skiable on a days excursion.

Travel
If driving to Chalet Balthazar, the journey is an extremely straight forward 75 min drive from Geneva Airport or 3 hours from Zurich Airport.
If travelling by train, there is a rail service direct from Geneva Airport to Aigle (a 20 minute journey by car/taxi to the Chalet) or to the next stop, Bex, from where you can change and take the mountain train direct to Villars. Balthazar is 50m from the train station. Airlines flying to Geneva from the UK include: BA, Easyjet, BMI and Swiss.

Chalet Balthazar is situated right in the heart of Villars near the train station/ bus terminal which links Villars with the surrounding villages and distant cities.
