A well equipped, comfortable first floor apartment with an en-suite bedroom and a large living room area with three comfortable sofa beds. There is a further modern bathroom with shower and bath and the apartment has a large west facing balcony with easy access to a large garden area beneath. The kitchen comprises a fridge/freezer, oven, large hob, dishwasher, and microwave and there is cable TV, DVD, telephone, broadband and underfloor heating. In addition there is designated underground parking, a fully equipped laundry room, ski lockers, a communal games room, lift access front and rear and a reception which provides helpful advice, and offers a morning bread service, beer and wine, a fondue/raclette and sports equipment. There is also broadband internet access available in the reception area.

Changeover day
Saturday afternoon is the beginning of a rental week. Apartment to be vacated by 11am for cleaning.
Other arrival/departures days can be arranged with prior agreement.

Bedrooms: One double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with doors opening onto the balcony.
Three large sofa-beds located in the sitting room with double doors leading onto the balcony.
Cable TV in both rooms.
Ample wardrobe space.
Bathrooms: Two modern bathrooms, the first is en-suite with shower and wc, the second with a bath, shower and wc. Hair-dryer. Constant hot water.
Kitchen: A well equipped kitchen area with cooker, hob, fridge-freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee machine and kettle.
Utility Room: Communal washing machine and dryer, iron and board are all in drying room opposite the flat.
Living Rooms: Cable TV Radio, DVD/video player, selection of DVDs and books. CD player, telephone, lamps, clock-radio and coffee tables. Two sofas which convert to full size comfortable beds, plus a pull out third bed (full size). Extending dining table and chairs (6).
Other: Lobby and coat rack (cupboard for hoover and cleaning materials).

A range of restaurants in the village offer discounts for Les Naturelles guests.

Accessibility
The front door of the flat is directly opposite the main lift so offers easy access to the village. All doors and corridors, in both building and the apartment, are wide enough for wheelchair access.
The underground parking also leads directly to the lifts.

Outside
The double balcony has table, chairs, a lounger and recliners. In front of the flat is a large expanse of grass which can be used as a play area or for BBQs. There is a small playground for children and a games room in the adjacent block.

Coast/Beach
Lake in Sierre (30 minutes) for swimming and sailing.

Golf
Leuk (20 minutes) and Crans Montana, venue of International Masters (1 hour).

Skiing
The main ski lift is directly behind the flat. There are lockers both at the top and the bottom of the lifts. There are pistes for all levels, although it is particularly suitable for intermediate skiers. There are several lodges and restaurants on the slopes.
There is a separate children's/beginners' ski area, popular with families, next to the Sports Arena, which offers squash, ice skating, tennis etc.

Special interest holidays
The area around offers extensive possibilities for serious hiking, alongside many gentle walks. There are several excellent hostelries and restaurants along these routes.
The tourist office in Leukerbad offers a weekly programme of activities.
Climbing and paragliding are also available.

Travel
Geneva and Bern airports two hours drive, a little more by train. Milan airport less than 3 hours. Approximately 9 hours drive from Channel ports. Car hire easy and reasonable from Geneva airport.

Distances
Zermatt one hour, Lake Thun (including Thun and Interlaken) one hour, Lake Geneva one hour (Geneva 2 hours), Lake Maggiori/Lake Como two hours. Sion and Brig 30 minutes.

Further details
There are both banks and supermarkets in the village, and bigger hypermarkets in Sion, Sierre, and Visp nearby in the valley. In Leukerbad German and French is spoken (but English widely used) In the valley to the east (Visp, Brig) German is also spoken, whereas to the west (Sierre, Sion) French is used.

Booking notes
A £100 deposit is required (refundable unless cancelled within two weeks of the booking). The full balance has to be paid 2 weeks before the start of the holiday.
Payment for cleaning, bedlinen and towels (approx CH120) has to be paid at reception before departure.

About the owner
We are a two English teachers from Brighton, UK. We have been visiting Leukerbad for the past five years. Despite some common perceptions we haven't found holidaying in Switzerland to be overly expensive! The village, the region and the country give us great pleasure, and we hope other people with have the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful mountain retreat.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We have had the flat for five years. We bought it as a holiday home.

Unique benefits of the property
We love the pure fresh air, the mountain walks, the lazy day's in the thermal baths. The skiing is also fantastic.The region is beautiful and offers many day trips into the valley.
