Second floor apartment in recently constructed building looking out on green field site with stream. A few minutes level walk from the train station. Videophone entry and lift. In summer there is morning sun, so meals can be enjoyed on the large balcony which has electrically operated awnings. Inside there is everything you would expect to find in accommodation of this standard, including; ceramic hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, as well as a washing machine and tumble dryer in a separate room. Cable TV with DVD player and HiFi and a small library! Modern bathroom with shower over bath and twin sinks.

Notes on accommodation
Underfloor heating is fully automatic providing a consistent, comfortable year round temperature.
Accessibility
Wheelchair access is good and all parts of the building are fully accessible.
Outside
There are communal grounds surrounding the building giving a pleasant ambiance.
Coast/Beach
Lucerne is 30 minutes drive or an hour by the local train and in summer the lake is great to swim in.
Golf
New 18 hole course in the most incredible setting, five minutes by car or accessible using the local bus. A valid handicap is required in order to play (April - October).
Skiing
Engelberg has two ski areas. The Brunni side (which can be seen from the apartment) is the sunny side and is frequented by families looking for a relaxing day out. If conditions are suitable there is wonderful off-piste down to the valley.
Titlis is the main area and more challenging, catering for the intermediate and advanced skier. The glacier on Titlis is at 3000m and guarantees a long, snow sure season. Heaven for skiers and boarders. We recommend hiring a guide for some serious off-piste.
Travel
Engelberg is easily accessible from either Zurich or Basel airports. Train transfer times are approximately 2 hours 15 minutes and by car 1 hour 30 minutes. If you are driving from the UK it is 9 hours from Calais. In winter, cars must be equipped with chains unless they have 4 wheel drive. The local council do a wonderful job of keeping the mountain road clear.
Distances
Stans is the nearest local town with large hypermarket (20 minutes drive). For more culture Lucerne is 30 minutes drive and has everything you would expect of a modern city, coupled with history and tradition.

We've had several wonderful holidays in this well appointed, modern apartment. It had everything to make our stay really comfortable. The views from the balcony were very enticing and Engelberg held so many opportunities for us to go walking at all levels. With its close proximity to the town and railway station, there was no need to hire a car, making it a very relaxing break. David and Marie Russell, Warwickshire.
It really was a home from home with everything you could need.The apartment was very comfortably furnished with terrific views from every aspect and was an ideal base for our holiday being close to the centre and railway but so quiet and peaceful. About the owner
Mark is a landscape contractor and I am a newly retired school teacher and we live in a small village on the Surrey/Sussex border. As a hobby, Mark has developed a passion for working with wood, producing beautiful pieces of furniture for our cottage and the apartment in Engelberg.I enjoy patchwork, quilting and knitting along with gardening and trying to grow all the vegetables we need. We found Engelberg in a Swiss Travel brochure in the mid 90's and enjoyed many holidays there, staying at the beautiful Hess Hotel. When that hotel was sadly demolished we were fortunate enough to buy an apartment in Hess Park because we love the village so much. The apartment is very much our home in Switzerland and we only rent it out for a few weeks each year.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
Engelberg is such a beautiful location up in the mountains from Lucerne. Access is easy either by air and rail or by car. The clean air really does have a restorative effect upon us each time we visit our apartment. The village is very popular for skiers and walkers especially at Christmas and the New Year, but at other times it is wonderfully quiet and relaxing. Mark enjoys skiing off piste, while I have my favourite walks up on Brunni and Titlis. There are plenty of other activities to enjoy including parapenting, mountain biking and what must be one of the most scenic golf courses in Europe. The local residents are very welcoming. Restaurants are varied and plentiful to suit all tastes and bank balances! Other nearby valleys are beautiful for walking too.
Unique benefits of the property
Property is very convenient to rail station, shops, restaurants - short level walk. Fantastic build quality of the apartment block, beautifully equipped throughout and very well maintained. Ski lift stations well served by free shuttle bus.
