Detached Chalet with Panoramic Mountain Views
Peaceful Location Ideal for Two Groups Sharing
Sleeps 6/8 (3 Bedrooms)

|
The chalet is in a group of 8 detached chalets. We are not overlooked by anyone and there is nothing in front of the chalet to spoil the 180 degree view of the mountains. It is approached by a narrow fairly steep road which is accessible by car when there is no snow, we have a garage 5 minutes walk away if there is. There is parking place by the mountain stream which borders our garden. The chalet is south facing so is perfect in both summer and winter for sitting outside on the balcony or terrace. The chalet is available all year round.
Stating the obvious - Switzerland is known for the Alps and mountains, the chalet is at 1200m therefore the walk up to the chalet is uphill and there are steps up to the chalet from the parking place - if you would rather have flat land then accommodation in the valley is better for you.The photos help show the area around the chalet. We have a motorised machine at the garage to carry luggage up from there in the winter /summer. A car is preferrable.

Notes on accommodation
The house is lovely for children - as long as they are the active kind - again not suitable for children who do not like walking or going up and down steps. Our boys have been going there since babies and love it. They particularly like playing near the stream in the summer.
The chalet could suit all ages providing they are happy to climb the steps as once there even the semi ambulent have a great view to look at - I can sit there for hours, watching the day pass by - buzzards, paragliders from above and taking off from below us etc. Now with free wifi internet access for those of you who cannot live without it !!
Accessibility
Not suitable for wheelchairs, as there are many steps and an uphill/downhill gravel track. As already mentioned - this is Switzerland and the chalet is at 1200m so some walking up and down 'hills' is unavoidable -the chalet suits those who love the mountain views and the associated activities of 'mountain' life - walking/skiing etc. There is a train station at Brunig which connects with the 'postauto' service to Goldern, so there is a 20 minute walk from there-uphill-so rucksacks are better.
Outside
There is a balcony with table and chairs. A terrace with table and chairs, sun loungers. Permanent BBQ. The mountain stream in the summer has proved to be great fun for our children, to cool off in.
Coast/Beach
There are 2 lakes close by, approximately 30 minutes by car, one at Lungern and one at Brienz. Both have 'beaches' and facilities to entertain children and adults alike.
Skiing
We walk to the cable car at Twing, approximately 20 minutes, we leave our skis and boots either at Twing or in Kaserstatt. We could equally walk to Reuti cable car and leave skis there or at Magisalp. There are car parks at both cable car stations, which cost 1 CHF per hour - cheap by UK prices. Look at the Haslital site for Piste runs.
Special interest holidays
Obviously the activities here are endless, walking, hiking, climbing, paragliding, painting, lake swimming or outdoor and indoor pool in Meiringen skiing, snowboarding, Langlaufen -cross country skiing/snow shoe trekking, sledging, cycling etc. Meiringen is famous for it's links to Sherlock Holmes.
Travel
We drive to Hasliberg, 600 miles from the French coastal ports. Flights can be taken to Bern, the closest airport (1 hours drive away), or Basle,Zurich or Geneva - 2 -21/2 hrs drive away. See the accessibility section.Train station at Brunig. Car hire is preferrable, convenient for luggage, shopping, sightseeing. If no car is wanted and you are not keen on walking up and down hills then please look on Haslital for accommodation in the valley area - where everything is on your 'doorstep'.
Distances
Hasliberg Goldern is 10-15 minutes away, Twing and Reuti are both 20 minutes walk away - where there are cable cars. Meiringen is about 30 minutes drive away and Interlaken about 45 minutes - see our website. Cars make sightseeing easy, but if you like using your legs(walking/cycling), buses, cable cars, trains and boats then this is all possible but the chalet is 20 minutes walk from the bus stop in Goldern and about 20-25 minutes from the cable car at Reuti which goes down to Meiringen.
Further details
There is a small shop with bakery in Hasliberg Wasserwendi which can be walked to in 20 minutes, or driven to in 10.There is a bank in Twing with a cash point. There is a post office in Goldern. There are local restaurants in Goldern,Wasserwendi and Reuti.
Larger supermarkets are in Meiringen,Brienz and Interlaken.
there are numerous places to visit which I have on the website, my notes and at the chalet.
There are a range of activities that you would expect in the mountains for both winter and summer - skiing / walking / sledging. Cycling, paragliding, swimming, monster trotti bikesetc.
Places to visit include Ballenburg open air museum, Muggestutz weg, Aareschlucht, Brienz wood carving, Lucerne Transport Museum, Hergiswil glass blowing centre, grimsel pass/Susten pass, Grindelwald, lakes of Brienz or Lungern, Sherlock Holmes museum etc.

We have had a fantastic holiday just what we needed. You have a fabulous place and very well equipped. We spent some good days going out and about and some lovely days just relaxing in the beautiful surrounding. I took some of the cards on the chalet to give to the girls I work with and relatives of ours. We will definitely like to try your Normandy Home and of course we will return to Hasliberg one day. Owner profile
The boys and me by the famous new Viaduc de Milau
About the owner
We are a family of four, we have 2 boys aged 11 and 15. We live in a cottage in the New Forest which we restored over 3 years from 1984 and have subsequently extended - a home which we love and are unlikely to ever sell.
We both had careers but enjoyed restoring our home so much that we carried on developing in the UK and renting out properties. It is now our means of income and way of life.
Normandy was a challenge, but having spent all our holidays there it doesn't owe us a penny really. The chalet in Switzerland was bought as a result of repeatedly visiting the same village year after year and wanting to be independent of rentals.
Our business allows us to spend the school holidays away, but we can only visit one place at a time and the boys want the sea in the south at the moment!
Year purchased: 2003
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We spent many years visiting this area, which was introduced to us by a swiss family who had rented there for 20 years. We stayed in many holiday lets but always had a dream to have something of our own.
Hasliberg is unspoilt and is still a working area so has traditional houses rather than huge concrete buildings.
It is popular all year round and is particularly suited to families. It is not a touristy area with souvenir shops and apres ski venues. It is for snow activities, walking, cycling, swimming etc etc.
The chalet is set in a group of 8 chalets up a small track and is away from all the hustle and bustle of every day life. Peace, tranquility, spectacular views, with every comfort of home. There is a local shop with larger shops in the valley. Restaurants/bank are a walk away.
Unique benefits of the property
The chalet is accessible by car when there is no snow, then the car has to be left at the garage. The chalet is not convenient to those wishing for a short walk from car to door - the chalet is on a hillside so walking up /down is unavoidable.
The area is easily reached by car, train and bus. Rucksacks are a must although we do have a machine at the garage for luggage/shopping.
The chalet has unrivalled views of the valley, glacier waterfall and skies. Whatever the weather there is something to observe from the balcony, terrace or inside the chalet. A stream runs at the bottom of the garden which gives a lovely background sound of water, whilst the 180 degree views provide entertainment all year round.
The chalet is a comfortable base for your holiday to walk, cycle or play in the snow.
