Chalet Fingals is a traditional Swiss chalet designed between the owners and a local architect, and built with only the very best materials and local craftmanship. Situated on a sunny tranquille plot, the chalet has been furnished and decorated in a beautiful contempory style, with every modern convenience being made available to ensure that your holiday is as enjoyable as possible; a real home from home that we are delighted to share with you and your family and friends. The open plan living area and the wonderfully cosy upper-mezzanine floor, which offer a variety of sofa's and leather chairs that could comfortably seat 12 people, benefit from exceptional panoramic views across the Rhone valley; whilst a full length balcony, large tiled terrace and an idyllic garden patio/BBQ area capture the all day sun. Although 4 bedrooms happily sleeps 8 people, an additional 2 people could sleep on a very comfortable sofa bed on the upper-mezzanine floor - a favourite with our children!

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds (payment in Swiss Francs can be made via mutual agreement) and fully inclusive, including chalet cleaning on changeover, linen/towels, electric/water, wireless Internet access, road access snow clearance, gardening service, logs for wood burning stove, tourist taxes (adults: Sfr2.p.p.p.d., children 6-16: Sfr1 p.p.p.d).

Kitchen: The kitchen is very modern and has new high spec appliances. There are granite worktops throughout and a granite breakfast bar, built-in fridge and freezer, dishwasher and oven. Also microwave, ceramic hob, kettle, toaster and Nespresso coffee maker.
Utility Room: There is a utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, Dyson hoover, iron/ironing board, bucket/mop, dustpan/brush. This is also an ideal room to dry your clothing, gloves, etc after a day's skiing.
Living Rooms: Large open-plan living area with vaulted ceiling, beautiful marble wood burning stove, 2 sofas and leather lazy chair. On the mezzanine level, on one side there is a plasma screen TV, DVD player, double sofabed, leather chairs, Internet/WIFI connection.
Other: The dining area seats 8 with 3 additional bar stools at the breakfast bar. The mezzanine also provides a comfortable study area with desk and views overlooking the Rhone valley, a cosy reading area with armchair, nested tables and book selection.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Towels, tea towels and linen all provided. Chalet cleaned, towels and bed linen changed before and after your stay.

 

Notes on accommodation
The chalet is strictly non-smoking and no pets allowed but, having 4 of our own, children are most welcome and are well catered for with a selection of toys, games, books and DVDs! A beautiful pine cot is also available if required (with new mattress). Thermostatically controlled electric heating is provided throughout the chalet, underfloor heating in the living area and bathrooms, and radiators in all the bedrooms and downstairs landing area. The wood burner in the lounge provides a more romantic source of heat for which logs are supplied. However, if used, we do request you clean the stove regularly and leave it clean on departure. Skis, boots and outside shoes should be left in the cupboards and wardrobes provided in the entrance hall.

Accessibility
Chalet Fingals shares a spacious plot with 4 other chalets and is the first to be accessed via our private road. The main entrance to the chalet is via the terrace and is only a few yards from the double parking bay. If required, the ground floor bedrooms (french doors onto patio) can also be accessed via steps from the terrace to the ground floor patio.

Outside
A large terrace provides the main access to the chalet and adjoins a full length balcony to the front offering extensive mountain views. Both can also be accessed via french doors from the lounge and dining areas. Steps also lead from the terrace to a patio and the french doors of 3 bedrooms. The main patio area is a tranquille spot at its best in the afternoon/evening with BBQ, table/chairs and comfortable garden furniture. The surrounding garden is beautiful in the summer months and is planted with local mountain plants and shrubs.

Golf
Six contrasting courses are located within an hour's drive of Haute Nendaz. Crans Montana (home of the European Masters), Verbier, Leuk Seuston and Sion are all 18 holes courses, and Sierre and Cran-sur-Sierre are 9 hole courses. If you are willing to travel a little further, 9 hole courses can also be found at Matterhorn, Source du Rhone and Riederalp.

Skiing
Nendaz is superb for beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers alike. At Nendaz, in the heart of the Four Valleys ski area, 400 km of pistes, in altitudes ranging from 1,350 to 3,330m, served by 100 cable cars and lifts await you. Much exists to make your family holiday as memorable and convenient as possible including children's ski centre, crèche, games library, ice-rink and special low rates for family ski passes. More than 90 km of glorious winter hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing will warm your heart. If you prefer more action when you're on holiday, you can have it, thanks to a snow park, freeride paradise, snowtubing area, sports centre and inviting après-ski bars. The 3,330 m high Mont-Fort Glacier guarantees excellent snow conditions from November until the end of April.

Travel
By car: approximately 8 hours from Calais.
By air: Fly to Geneva as a rule, but occasionally flights are available to the Sion regional airport. From Geneva you have a journey of stunning scenary, initially following the outskirts of Lake Geneva, then entering the mountain valleys before reaching Sion in approx. 1hr 30mins, then you have a 20 mins twisting climb up the mountain to the resort of Haute Nendaz.

Distances
Nendaz village is 2km up the road and offers plenty of restaurants, boutique shops, 3 supermarkets and numerous ski hire shops (residents at our chalet receive a 10% discount from Gaby Sports). However, the nearest boulangerie and smaller supermarket is about 1km up the road.

Further details
The closest telecabine is in the village (car parking is plentiful) which takes you up to Tracouet at 2200m. Other starting points include Siviez (10 minutes), Veysonnaz (15 minutes) and Thyon (20 minutes) which can all be accessed via a free (with ski pass) shuttle bus which stops 100yds from the chalet. Note, all locations are connected by 400km of pistes.

Booking notes
30% of the rental fee is payable to secure the booking. The final balance plus a damage deposit of GBP300 (or Sfr600) is payable 8 weeks before arrival date. The damage deposit will be returned after the final inspection (which includes a clean wood burning stove!).

Guest comments
We know the owners of Chalet Fingals very well and were delighted to be asked to "test drive" a 2 week summer vacation. The chalet has been built and furnished to a very high specification and has a very warm homely atmosphere, including a generous spirits selection! The location offers a superb array of summer activities including tranquil well sign-posted bisse walks, swimming in nearby lakes or Nendaz's own outdoor pool, or for the more adventurous mountain biking in abundance. Nendaz itself has a lovely easy pace about it and provides a wonderful array of boutique shops and restaurants. Being experienced skiers we also look forward to our winter "test drive" invitation! House swap
House swap considered. We are a family of six so we would require a minimum of 3 bedrooms (1 double and 2 twin bedrooms), but an additional double bedroom would be beneficial.
