2 bedroom 5* modern apartment, in the heart of Leukerbad, in quiet area. Stunning views across the mountains. There is a concierge in the Residenz. The apartment is easy walking distance to restaurants, supermarket, charcuterie, bakery, delicatessen with local cheeses. The town has many thermal baths, the two largest are the Burgerbad and the Lindner Alpentherme, both nearby (imagine lying outside in the steaming pools looking up at the snow capped peaks). Year round walking and hiking (Leukerbad is both for serious walkers and runners and for those wishing to amble through the alpine pastures at a leisurely pace). Skiing, cross country skiing, sledging, tennis (indoors), ice skating (indoors), mini golf, golf at Leuk, biking, rock climbing, wine tasting. Tourist Information in the town, ski school, bus station (which connects with trains to Geneva and Brig). Good medical facilities, acupuncture, and several Health and Beauty Spas - the Alpentherme offer Ayurveda, Clarins etc.

Saturday-Saturday peak periods (Christmas/New Year + February and March, August). Otherwise by arrangement.

Accessibility
The apartment is accessed by lift and by stairs and a ramp into the apartment block from the garage. Therefore it is deemed suitable for guests with mobility issues.
Outside
There is outdoor dining furniture on the south facing balcony of the apartment.
There is a large patio leading from the Wellness area, again south facing, which is for communal use.
Golf
Golf is available in Leuk in the valley. An 18 hole course. There is also a great course at Crans Montana, about a 40 minute drive away.
Skiing
The main ski area is on the Torrent, and the Torrentbahn cable car is 400m from Residenz Ambassador. There are more than 50km pistes, some have seen World Cup Races. But if you are a beginner or early days skiier, don't let that put you off! There is another area for beginners, which is accessed by bus and the bus stop is just up from the apartment. Cross country skiing is on the Gemmi (bus or walk to the Gemmibahn) and trails are also created in the town just below the apartment.
Travel
From Geneva airport it is approximately a 2 hours drive.
From Geneva airport by train direct to Leuk and the train connects with a bus to Leukerbad, approximately 2 1/2 hours.
Berne airport less than 3 hours by train to Leukerbad.
Sion airport 40 minutes (very limited flights).
Distances
It is about an hour's drive to:
Crans Montana, Zermatt, Saas Fee and Brig. And Zermatt, which lies diaognally across the valley is the small town from which to view the Matterhorn -and it is truly a terrific experience to see this great mountain! With the horse drawn vehicles and electric cars, it makes a great tourist day out from Leukerbad.
Further details
All facilities/shops are within walking distance from Residenz Ambassador, so for those who prefer not to drive, it is not essential to have a car whilst in Leukerbad. Public transport gets you to Leukerbad with Swiss efficiency, by train and then connecting bus. The tourist information in the town has information on all walks and activities available and the bus station can book tickets for excursions out of Leukerbad, to local towns like Zermatt or as far away as Milan and Rome.
German is the main language in Leukerbad but English works well if you want it to. You can also use French and Italian, so don't let language be a barrier to experiencing this delightful little town - plenty of old, quiet Swiss charm (you can hear the cow bells tinkling from the balcony in the Summer months), soaring and dramatic snow capped mountains surround the village, and you can watch the tumbling waterfalls from both balconies in the apartment. And none of the inflated prices and ritziness of the big resorts. Leukerbad has been cited as "Switzerland's best kept secret"....
In the Summer the weather can be hot, cooling down at night, so it is not too hot to sleep. And if you want real heat, drop down into the Rhone Valley where it can be "baking" heat. Being the Alps, the clouds can come down too, but even they can be dramatic in their own way - and if it rains, then there are LOTS of indoor activities (gym and wellness in the Rsidenz or thermal baths and beauty spa - the Linder Alpentherme offers some 200 different treatments!) to while away the day in a really relaxed (or energetic)way.

'The apartment is smart, modern and well equipped with wonderful views of mountains and alpine meadows. It is ideally located to explore Leukerbad with many walks to suit all abilities. There is a spa just along the road which is a great way to relax and look at the beautiful scenic views all around. Fresh local produce, including an excellent bakery is close by, with many good quality restaurants to visit. We found this an ideal base to explore this beautiful part of the world.
