A superbly well built and located duplex apartment ideal for skiing, walking, or biking holidays in the excellent 4 Valleys. It sleeps 7/8 adults plus children in cots if required. It has arguably the best location in Nendaz, being 200m from main lift and shops, yet away from hustle, bustle and noise, and with amazing unobstructed views. Inside, it has been furnished with comfort in mind and to feel like a family home rather than a characterless holiday rental property. Hence the many books, DVDs, CDs and games all available for tenants' use, the fine quality art and furniture (traditional and modern), and an unusually large and well-equipped kitchen. The bare facts are: outside and inside parking, ski room with boot warmer, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms (plus further shower and wc), large open plan living/dining area, sauna, jacuzzi, Wifi, cable TV, and spectacular 'front row' views, enjoyed from huge glass windows and balcony access from every room.

Changeover day
Normally on Saturday, especially in high season, but worth asking as we may be able to accommodate you.

Notes on accommodation
No smoking or pets, but children very welcome! Large private indoor garage with electric door (under chalet). Real log fireplace. Wooden floors in all bedrooms and living area. Under floor heating throughout. High spec bathrooms/power double shower with giant rose head. Natural stone wall and floor tiling. Unusually high ceilings in bedrooms/bathrooms (4m plus). Balcony access for every bedroom. Fine antique furniture and large 8-seater oak dining table. High spec kitchen with above average storage/preparation space. Huge windows in main open-plan area opening onto wide 'wrap-around' terrace. NB the jacuzzi/sauna complex with additional shower/wc on the ground floor of the chalet is shared with one other (2-bed) apartment.
Accessibility
Easily accessible by car and foot, though climbing of some stairs unavoidable. Own private driveway off the road leads into parking area and a garage under the apartment.
Outside
Large wider than average terrace running around the living area of the property. Bench on terrace. Separate terrace leading off kitchen. Balconies off each of the 4 bedrooms. Landscaping to front of property. Outside parking space in addition.
Coast/Beach
No beach, but Lake Geneva is within easy striking distance. Even more popular are the thermal spas in nearby Saillon and Ovronnaz.
Golf
The best course is at Crans-sur-Sierre (which hosts a European PGA tour event each year). Others at Verbier and Villars - all within an hour or so by car. If you want one even closer (and flatter), there's one on the outskirts of Sion in the valley.
Skiing
Nendaz is fast becoming much better known in the UK, but has long been a favourite of European skiers. It is slap bang in the middle of the marvellous 4 valleys region, which is one of the largest and most highly-rated areas in the Alps with over 400k of pistes + even more off piste. There's great walking/biking in the rest of the year, too - (lifts stay open until September).
Nendaz - and this apartment in particular - is wonderfully located to explore the entire region. It's linked in to all the other areas on one lift pass and takes less time to get to the top of Mont Fort (3,300m) than it does from the much more crowded Verbier. The Printze region is really good and has some great restaurants.
The ski schools are excellent & the 'kids' area' at the top of Nendaz (reached from the lift 200m from the chalet) is huge, safe, great fun, and has a very good bar/restaurant as well! Good creches (Nendaz & Siviez) if kids not ski age. Please contact owner for more information.
Travel
Sion airport 25 mins by car/taxi/bus. Geneva airport 105 mins by car/taxi. Trains run regularly between Sion and Geneva.
Distances
Sion 25 mins. Crans Montana 50 mins. Montreaux/Lake Geneva 60 mins. Verbier 55 mins. Saillon 30 mins.
Further details
Nendaz is an excellent place to live in throughout the year and because it is a proper town, it does not 'shut up shop' once the ski season is over. Aside from being pretty and enjoying a great vantage point over the valley, it has lots of amenities. There are over 30 restaurants and plenty of bars. The shopping is good, too. There are several supermarkets, pharmacies, boulangeries, clothes shops, gift shops, cafes, a garage, and a post office, police station, and very helpful tourist office. As for activities in addition to the obvious skiing, snowboarding, hiking or biking, there's: swimming, rock climbing, tennis, squash, a sports centre, ice-skating rink, and paragliding.
The other thing to realise is that Sion is a beautiful and very interesting town well worth a visit if you have time. It has a major hospital as well as large department stores, pretty squares and plenty of history.
There is also Sion airport, from where you can fly direct to Gatwick (Saturdays only) making it possible to get from door to door in 4 hours. Otherwise, Geneva is the best bet, and can be reached fairly easily in 1 and 3/4 hours of very scenic driving through the Alps and round the stunning Lake Geneva, on top quality roads. In fact, Nendaz is very well situated for travelling around the wider region and in striking distance of plenty of beautiful places.
Finally, we have equipped the apartment to be a comfortable and 'homely' place, so the furnishings and fixtures and fittings are top quality and there is plenty of art and furniture you would not normally find in a rental property. With wifi internet connection, it means you can also keep in touch with the office if you have to. We hope you have a great stay - and ask you please to treat it as if it were your own home.
Booking notes
A 25% non-returnable deposit is required on booking with the balance due 8 weeks before the start of the holiday. We also ask for a security deposit of £250 to cover damage and breakages. This is payable with the balance and will be returned to you, less any charges in the event of breakage, damage, or extra cleaning of dirt/mess that is over and above reasonable 'wear and tear.'
