Turn off the main Colombo Road one kilometre before Galle and just 400 metres from the beach is Gin Ganga House, standing on two acres of lush land surrounded by the Gin Ganga River and Mahamodera Lake on three sides. There are spectacular views from Mahamodera Watte. Gaze across the lake and watch the kingfisher zoom past with his latest catch or the sea eagle soar to meet its prey. Stroll around the garden full of exotic fruits like mango, paw paw, banana, avocado and more. The property is 1 km from Galle, a fishing town famous for its Dutch Fort. Colombo and the airport are four hours away. The nearest beach is 400 metres from the house and diving can be found 10 minutes away at Unawatuna Bay. Day trips to Bentota, the Turtle Sanctuary and to Yala National Park for safari drives. Overnight trips to Pinawalla Elephant orphanage, Kandy, Sigiriya and the tea plantations.

Price is for the property per week in UK Pounds. The rate is includes electricity, reasonable local transport, staff of 5 for cleaning, shopping cooking, serving and washing up. electricity and use of all the house services and equipment. The cost of food and drink is not included.

Bedrooms: All bedrooms are large and have super king size beds, en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning and four have a balcony.
Bathrooms: All bathrooms are fully tiled with shower, WC and hand basin.
Kitchen: Kitchen has fridge-freezer with ice maker, hob, oven microwave and storage. However, staff will cook, serve, clear and wash dishes.
Utility Room: There is a separate scullery were the staff will wash up. There is a laundry room with washing machine, iron and linen storage on the first floor.
Living Rooms: The ground floor is open plan with lounge, TV area, dining room all leading off a large hall the centre piece of which is an atrium with tropical plants and fish pond. The TV is a full HD and a Blue Ray Player is also available.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Towels and bed linen are included. There is a staff of five, comprising a driver and wife, gardener and wife plus a second gardener/pool man. Bedrooms will be cleaned and made up daily as they would in an hotel.

Notes on accommodation
All bedrooms are air-condiioned. The shared areas of the house are large and open with an atrium in the centre giving natural air-conditioning. The house is suitable for children provided that they are able to swim.

Accessibility
One bedroom is on the ground foor and has level access to the hall, TV area and the verandah. A second bedroom is on the ground floor with same access except for one step. The veranda leads to a long path that would give wheelchair access to the garden, lake and BBQ. The pool cannot be accessed by wheelchair as it is raised. Staff can be on-hand to assist.

Outside
The house stands in the centre of a two acre plot surrounded by lake and river on three sides. The fourth side has a high wall and double gate with guard house. The site is totally private and peacefull. The staff live in bungalows that are about 200 metres from the main house and keep a low profile when they are not required. The BBQ hut seats eight people and is an excellent spot to take lunch and watch the wildlife. The swimming pool is 40 feet long and usually in excess of 32 degrees. There is small bridge to an island in the river which is part of the property and is planted with bananas, providing a home to a troupe of purple faced Langar monkeys.

Coast/Beach
The beach is about 4 minutes walk. Ten minutes drive will take you to Unawatuna beach or Hikkaduwa where diving is available.

Travel

Distances
The airport in Colombo is about 4 hours from the house. Galle is 1 mile way. The Elephant Orphanage, Kandy, Yala and other attractions can be reached in a day trip but an overnight stay is strongly recommended.

Further details
The rate includes room cleaning, electricity and use of all the house services and equipment. The cost of food and drink is NOT included. Menu options are discussed beforehand and prepared by our staff. It's waiter service! Meals can be taken wherever you want them - in the dining room, in the barbecue hut by the lake, on the veranda or by the pool. Alternatively we will transport you, at no extra cost, by mini bus or tuk-tuk to one of the local restaurants, where you can take meals at your own cost. A guest chef can also visit the house by local arrangement. The mini-bus is also available for guests reasonable use to visit local restaurants and beaches, at no extra cost. The air-conditioned, 10 seater mini-bus is available for tours which can be arranged and paid for locally, airport transfers are also available. The staff at the house are friendly and helpful. They will do everything possible to make you stay enjoyable. Ajith, who speaks English, is the house manager and driver, so he will always be there for you. There is also a gardener, pool-man cook and cleaner. Weekly bedlinen, towels and pool towels are provided.

A part payment of 25% is required on booking with the balance payable eight weeks prior to departure.
