South Point Abbey (3 Bedrooms, Sleeps 6)

3 large bedrooms with air conditioning and fan. King size beds, four-poster beds draped with mosquito nets upstairs, lovely view of the ocean from rooms. Modern and classical furniture. Attached bathrooms with hot/cold water and rain fall shower, herbal shampoo in ceramic containers. 1st floor boarded floors. Website below gives more details. Boarded floors upstairs, large windows open out to verandahs. Ground floor laid with antique terracotta tiles. Large modern kitchen with large stove cum oven, fridge freezer, microwave oven, pantry cupboards, and all necessary crockery, cutlery and glassware. Staff of 4. Chef excels in fine dining, maid/house boy, night security and mantainance manager. Meals - a la carte available and meal preferences may be discussed with chef - No worries about purchasing. Guests may bring in their own provisions for chef to prepare, Plenty of fresh sea food. Child meals available. Cot/high chair available. Child minder can be arranged.

Notes on accommodation
South Point Villa and Abbey are adjoining properties. Each property has its own private garden, pool and staff. By opening a door, access available to both properties making them an ideal get away for groups of 12 persons. All bedrooms air conditioned. Ceiling fans in sitting areas. Both properties have their own well trained staff. chefs excell in fine dining. Meals can be discussed and ordered. a la carte available. Guests may bring in their own provisions for chef to prepare and their own wines. cots/highchairs available.

Accessibility
South Point Villa has good wheelchair access. On request a ramp can be fixed for the 6 steps to enter the main living area. From the garden 4 steps down to the beach.
South Point Abbey wheelchair access to the ground floor room.
On request special maid services can be provided with prior notice.

Outside
Each villa is completely separated from each other and has its own separate private swimming pool 15 x 30 feet and well maintained garden stretching down to the golden soft beach. Sun beds each, barbeque area, verandahs looking at the ocean. Large secluded gardens. Boats and fishing gear and snorkelling equipment can be hired. Notes - South Point Villa is the larger property and has beach access through out the year. The villa is built close to the beach. We like our guests to know that South Point Abbey has no beach access from Mid November to Mid January if the water levels are high and has been built close to the road, therefore sometimes can be a little noisly to the bathrooms. The Boundry walls have double walls to reduce the noise. At South Point Villa and Abbey we offer the same excellent and personalized serive.

Coast/Beach
South Point Villa step down to a soft golden beach. Safe swimming in the reef lagoon which extends 100 yards into the sea. Excellent for swimming and snorkelling.
Unawatuna and Mirissa beaches are 15 - 20 minutes away from South Point Villas. Ideal surfing.

Special interest holidays
Yoga, Aurvedha massages, cookery, bird watching, deep sea trolling, still fishing. Take part in Social activities of South Point Villas. Our most recent project is an Education and Life Skills Development Centre built on our land opposite South Point Villas.
This centre will teach spoken English and grammer, domestic sciences, training in professional sewing, etc.
Most of the villagers though educated and very talented in different ways cannot converse fluently in English.
Our vision for this project is to have young people fluent in English, which will enable them to get better employment opportunities. Our guests are welcome to participate in any of our projects and educational programs. All our projects are on a non profit hands on basis. We do not take a fee from the village children for English classes.
All projects done by South Point Villas are documented and available at the centre.

4 - 4 1/2 hours by car from Colombo International Airport.
45 minutes to Koggala by air taxi.
10 minutes by car from Koggala domestic airport to villa.
Air conditioned vehicles can be arranged for hire.
Local tuk tuks (3 wheel taxies) can be hired.

Distances
25 minutes from Galle - a World Heritage site.
10 minutes from Habaraduwa and Ahangama towns.
10 minutes from Koggola Airport (air taxi service)
10 minutes from Banks.
15 minutes to Tea Estate and factory.
15 minutes from Unawatuna and Mirissa beaches.
4 hours by car to Wildlife game sanctuaries and Sinharaja Tropical Rain Forest.

Further details
Kathaluwa is a sleepy laid back fishing village.
Hikkaduwa and Galle have several little eating places. Supermarket, banks, jewellery stores and shops. The Dutch Fort, Ramparts and cobbled streets of Galle are of great interest.

In Kathaluwa the entire community revolves around the local temple and buddhist traditions.

The people are proud of being fishermen and take pride in their deep sea vessels and day boats, are very helpful to tourists. They would be happy to take the adventurous out to sea with them when night fishing or to watch dolphins by day. Excellent fishing and diving opportunities. For certified divers visits can be made to sunken wrecks.
Plenty of fresh fish, prawns, calamari and many varieties of fish directly off boats.

Shopping in little village towns a few minutes away, a weekly village fair, cultural sites, temples and boating on Koggala Lake.
