Malgedara is a spectacular house, fully enclosed for privacy, yet with 1-acre of lush tropical surroundings for you to experience nature and beauty up-close. One side of the garden overlooks a paddy field vista with grazing bullocks and the odd monkey swinging across the swaying palms. The house is furnished to the highest standards while retaining its colonial heritage. There are 4-poster teak beds in all rooms, air-con, fans and hot & cold water. All your entertainment needs are taken care of in the small sitting room with TV, DVD and a stereo system including Internet access for those workaholics. There are 2 veranda seating areas, one being a huge 15-metre long area at the front of the house, complete with dining for 10, lazy chairs and sun loungers. The kitchen is huge and fully equipped for all your needs with a separate laundry room including a washing machine and iron. The garden is beautiful enough to keep all you horticulturists fascinated for hours.

Bedroom 1 with 4 poster king-size bed.

All beds have comfortable mattresses, pristine sheets and protective mosquito nets. |
| Bathrooms: |
Bedroom 1 and 2 each have en-suite bathrooms with sink, shower, bidet. They are very big rooms. From bathroom 1 you can see the garden through wooden shutters.
Bedroom 3 uses the bathroom opposte the room and bedroom 4 includes a large en-suite. |
| Kitchen: |
The fully equipped kitchen includes a 4 ring stove, fridge/freezer, oven, grill, toaster and kettle. We offer self-catering or catered stays from our select Malgedara menu. Let us know what you require and we can fit to your eating schedule. |
| Utility Room: |
Includes a washing machine and iron. However, for a small charge the villa housekeeper will take care of all your clothing needs. Who wants to wash and iron on holiday? |
| Living Rooms: |
The small living room includes lovely Sri Lankan style furniture. You can also find a TV, stereo, DVD system and Internet connection. I doubt you will sit in the house much as most of the day can be spent lounging on the huge veranda looking at the garden |
| Other: |
Being a renovated colonial villa, the house has lots of interesting areas to explore. There is a second sitting area between bedrooms 3 and 4 towards the back of the house. The most visited area is the large front terrace which overlooks the garden. |
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service: |
All towels and linens are included. My housekeeper will take great care to ensure that your holiday is as care-free as possible. She is on-hand daily should you require anything. |
Notes on accommodation
The house is very suitable for families with children. Visitors to the garden include parrots, cuckoos, squirrels, monkeys, and even the odd monitor lizard. There are very few places today where you can really experience a natural tropical experience on holiday in real comfort.

The pool lies directly infront of the large veranda and so you can keep an eye on the kids or ask our gardener, Nilame to watch the littel ones. Our staff are on hand to help you in any way.

Outside
Chairs, loungers and tables are available on the large terrace at the front of the house. We usually leave the dining table on the terrace to dine under the stars while listening to the jungle sounds of birds and crickets. A lawned area in the garden is perfect for the kids to run around or for you to enjoy the paddy field vista. Resplendant infront of the house is a beautiful private 15-metre infinity pool overlooking the paddy field. Complete luxury in an unbelieveable setting.
Coast/Beach
Beautiful Koggala and Ahangama beaches are the closest to the house. You can take a samlor to the beach in 5-10 mins. Alternatively, we can help with car hire services.
Wind-surfing and other water sports are available in the area.
Travel
When arriving at the airport in the capital Colombo, we can arrange for someone to meet you and transport you and your family to the house. More details are provided on booking. The journey takes around 3 hours.
Distances
Galle Fort is approx 25 mins drive from the house. Here you can stroll around the famous 300-year-old UNESCO heritage site. Leaving Galle and heading towards Koggala, you can visit the beach bars of Unawatuna. Koggala Lake, about 1 min from the house provides the setting for Bird Island and a Buddhist Retreat. You can hire catamarans to sail around the lake.
Further details
If you desire, all your culinary needs are taken care of by our cook at the house. Or there are many lovely eateries around the Galle and Koggala area. There are sufficient banks in Koggala and in Galle town which allow international withdrawals and money exchange facilities. We provide our guests with comprehensive information about the area and things to do at the time of booking.
