Property description

The villa is situated in the hills behind the typically Spanish town of Oliva at the southern end of the Costa del Azahar and is reached by a 10 mins drive from the town. It is approached by a private road and has panoramic views across the terraced orange groves down to the Mediteranean sea. The arched terrace area allows you to sit during the day listening to the sound of the birds and in the evening, provides a covered eating area. The landscaped garden includes mature almond trees, topiary, a large lawned area and beautiful plants including wisteria and bourgainvillea. The sunbathing terrace invites you to top up your sun tan before taking a dip in the large freshwater swimming pool. Through the electric gates there is ample secure parking and the children’s play area includes a tree house, swing, and slide. The hot tub, situated in a secluded area of the grounds, comfortably seats 6 people. The villa has full central heating and air conditioning in the living areas.

About the Owner

We bought our property in Spain a few years ago to follow the dream I had about living in the Mediterranean someday. That day came sooner than we imagined as we decided to take a deep breath and move out here permanently following my being made redundant at the start of the recession in 2009. Having spent a lifetime in a high powered, demanding Sales Management position we felt that the pace of life, quality of environment and value for money in Spain was so much better than we were used to in the UK. We had used a management company to look after our guests previously but felt that not only could we do just as good a job but also offer that personal touch which can make a holiday feel really special. We love living here and hope that anyone who visits will love it just as much.

Year property purchased: 2006

Why this location?

We chose the area around Oliva as it remains very Spanish. The old town is beautiful with it's squares and blue domed churches. But the beaches in this area are unbelievable. Mile after mile of beautiful sand, shelving water and the warm Mediterranean sea. The price differences between here and the more traditional resorts are also an attraction. You can still get a 3 course lunch with wine for under 10 euros. The Friday market offers great value for money and some real bargains for gifts. Of course the weather too makes a big difference - sunshine for over 300 days a year means you can make the most of your outside space. I have to be honest too, a good bottle of Rioja or Pinot Grigio for under 3 euros means sitting and watching the sun go down is a real treat!

What are the unique benefits of the property?

We fell in love with Casa Nialto at first sight. As we drove out of the town and up through the orange groves we felt that we were going to a different world. To be able to swim in the large pool in total privacy and see the sea from the large garden was exactly what we wanted. All this only 5 kms from the town is perfect. The children's play area and the hot tub were a real bonus and sitting in the hot tub at night watching the falling stars is so romantic. The air quality here is amazing and with no streetlamps at night the view of the town, beach and night sky is truly stunning. But best of all when you are sitting and relaxing on the veranda in the evening as the sun goes down, listening to the crickets you feel as if you have all the time in the world to simply chill.
