To find this, often entails very uncomfortable travel, so it is refreshing to discover an easy drive on proper roads that don't jolt your insides out to reach this stunning Holiday destination. The large comfortable, colourful & interesting rooms of an old property & a choice of Terraces to sit outside means that even with four People staying, they have their own space - another essential in a recipe for an enjoyable Holiday. This is the perfect place for a unique hideaway, making a memorable experience gazing at the clear unpolluted skies at night & lazing by the Pool through the day. Whilst this property oozes character & quirkiness, it is by no means rustic. It provides every requirement you might need to relax in great comfort & style.
The twin bedroom on the ground floor has an outlook to the gardens and countryside. The double bedroom upstairs has a large wardrobe, fan, bedside tables and dressing table. You can watch the sun come up from this room. Both bedrooms are very spacious.
The shower room provides a large walk-in Shower, bidet, toilet and wash basin. It also houses the washing machine. The bathroom has a bath with shower fitting, toilet and wash basin. They are full of character and have interesting features.
Charming modern kitchen overlooking the pool, adjacent to the Terrace with every facility: hob, grill, full oven, kettle, firdge/freezer, toaster, microwave and dishwasher. Open plan design leading to the raised dining room, to make it a social occasion.

The dining room has a circular hand made/painted table with 4 chairs, an occasional sofa and stairs leading to the mezzanine sitting room, which has a sofa, 2 armchairs, coffee table, small library/games, CD/radio and TV with DVD player.
The house/pool are thoroughly cleaned and prepared for your arrival. A change of fresh bed linen and towels will be provided once a week. Please bring your own towels for sunbathing and the beach.

Important notes on accommodation
The house is delightfully traditional with a distinct Mediterranean feel. The beamed ceilings and the large colourful spacious rooms welcome you into the spirit and warmth of rural Andalucia. 60cm walls & stone floors in an old house keep you cool in Summer & warmer in the cooler months. There are fans in every room & mosquito screens. Every thought has been given to provide you with everything you need for a comfortable, relaxing Holiday, right down to the Picnic Box and night lights!
In our opinion, the house and gardens are not suitable for babies and toddlers.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week. These prices are "all inclusive". No extra charges are made for water, electric, gas, heating or cleaning. We can accept payment in Sterling or Euros. Discounts available for Bookings of more than 2 weeks, 2 People Occupancy and Repeat bookings. For 2 week bookings in May or October, we can offer a 10% discount on the second week. At the time of your Booking enquiry, we will be pleased to hold the dates for you whilst you arrange your Flights.
Please arrive from 4.00 pm and vacate the house by 10.00 am (local times). Changeover days are often Sat or Sun, however, our aim is to be flexible to assist with Flight bookings.

About the area
Disabled guests have stayed comfortably in the house, but it would be necessary to discuss any special needs before booking.
The house is in its own grounds in a typically charming rural Spanish setting. It has a private drive with electric gates to enter and secure Parking. The South facing fabulous 8x4m solar heated private Pool and beautiful Gardens, give you the opportunity to enjoy your personal "piece of heaven" from sunup to sundown. The general consensus of Guests is that "the pool is very private and peaceful".
The nearest town, Albox (20 mins by car), has a large weekly Market, Supermarkets and many Tapas Bars and Restaurants. Velez Rubio and Velez Blanco nearby, have a castle, a National Park and breathtaking views to easily rival famous Ronda. A visit to the Historic city of Granada is comfortably achieved in a day. We live in the adjacent house & will be pleased to share our knowledge of the area & facilities with you if you require this. There are 2 typically Spanish Restaurants nearby: one with incredible views and the other, 2kms down the road: both offer formal Dining or Tapas.
The nearest beaches are at Puerto Rey (40 mins), Vera and Vera Water Park, Garrucha and Mojácar. There are many and varied beautiful beaches all the way along the coast to see and discover. The beaches have been awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness, enabling you to enjoy the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean.
There is a wide choice of Golf Courses in the area, and we will be pleased to help you, should you need it. 'Cortijo Grande', 'Valle de Este' and 'Desert Springs' are of note.

Transfer times: Almeria Airport: approx. 1.5 hours. Granada Airport: approx. 1.5 hours. Murcia Airport: approx. 2 hours. Alicante Airport: approx. 2 hours. Malaga Airport: approx. 3.5 hours. Budget airlines flying to this part of Spain include EasyJet, Ryanair, Monarch, Avro, bmibaby, jet2 and thomsonfly. It is recommended that you book your car hire when you arrange your flight.

A non returnable deposit of £150 per week will secure your booking. The balance and inventory deposit of £150, which is repaid by internet payment on departure, are payable 8 weeks prior to your holiday. Holidays booked at 8 weeks or less require a non-returnable deposit of 50%: the balance/inventory to be paid no less than 1 week before arrival. Please ask about our no interest "Payment Plan". We can provide the service of a "Shop" if you have a late or Sunday arrival. Please ask for details.

About the Owner
Our overriding wish when we bought the property was to make staying at the house a memorable & contented Holiday. Although the house was just about habitable when we first bought it, we have made huge changes & have worked over the years to constantly improve it. We are very proud of the work we have achieved. It has been a "Labour of Love".
We originally envisaged that most of our Guests would have grown up Children, like ourselves, heading towards retirement. It was a surprise to find that many Guests who stay at the house are in their late 20's to early 30's & many Families have also chosen to stay with us. It has been a satisfying experience to find that we have made more Friends over the years through our rentals.

Why this location?
As soon as we saw "Finca Solana" we knew it was perfect for our future plans to rent out a property. The location & stunning views, coupled with a wonderful vibrant energy clinched it for us. The setting provides a real sample of the Spanish countryside & takes you away from the crowded Beaches & Urbanizations. It is a joy to wake up at "F/S" & the experience is one that begs to be renewed.
