Our home was bought brand new in 2006. It was chosen by us for a combination of factors - primarily proximity to the beach and airport, thereby allowing its use without the need for car hire and short transfers to and from the airport. The "town house" style is very versatile offering fantastic family accommodation in a really great location. The interior is tastefully decorated with all the home comforts including high quality lounge furniture and a "memory foam" double bed in the master bedroom. So why choose our house over similar properties? It is in one of the best locations in Monte Y Mar - the attractive garden is enhanced by tasteful planting including orange and lemon trees. The garden is one of the largest available for this type of property and as such offers enough space for all the party to enjoy sunbathing and alfresco dining. The house is un-overlooked (frontline) and its South facing aspect keeps the house warm in winter and offers the potential of day long sun.

Changeover day
There is no particular changeover day and is arrival/departure times are flexible depending on incoming and outgoing guests.

Notes on accommodation
The accommodation is fully air-conditioned which can be converted to heating mode during the winter months. Also equipped with a good quality LCD TV connected to satellite TV channels transmitting the majority of UK 'Freeview' choices as well as a quality DVD player if required, (and extensive DVD library). Outside
The front garden is one of the largest in the area for this type of property. It is unoverlooked with the pine ravine and recently landscaped gardens to the front of the house. The South facing aspect gets the sun all year round and has ample space for 4/5 people to dine alfresco with one large and a smaller glass topped table. Good quality garden furniture and parasol for guest use for when the sun gets too strong. The garden is complimented by mature lemon and orange trees and bouganvilla which supports the Mediterranean garden theme.
The roof solarium has a further table and seating for four people along with three good quality sunloungers, roof shower and parasol for private sunbathing.
Coast/Beach
The house is close to the main Carabassi beach and can be reached on foot in 15 minutes or a 5 minute drive. The beach is one of the best on the coast and has a vibrant beach bar during the summer months along with the usual sun lounger and parasol hire at a reasonable price. The beach stretches for 9 kilometers towards Santa Pola and Alicante and is never too crowded even at the height of the season and for added safety during the summer Red Cross Lifeguards are on duty all day.
Golf
20 minutes from our home is Alenda Golf. Alenda Golf is located on the Alicante - Madrid road - just 20 minutes away from Gran Alacant and is designed by Roland Favrat. Alenda Golf is a new course which opened in 1999. Alenda Golf has great views across the mountains and the Mediterranean. The tee shots require good positioning, and the elevated greens offer a challenge to any standard of golfer on a mountain course overlooking the sea. Alenda Golf clubhouse is an old restored farm house where you can find a restaurant-cafeteria, changing rooms and golf shop. There is also a driving range and putting green. The first 9 holes of Alenda Golf are entertaining and easier to play, with wide fairways (which help tee shots) limited by pines, carob trees and palm trees. The second 9 holes of Alenda Golf require a higher concentration being more technical and precision is more important than distance. Advanced booking recommended. Proof of handicap necessary.
Travel
Alicante airport less than 15 minutes drive from the house and is approximately 15 euros by taxi.
Car hire is not necessary to enjoy Gran Alacant as there is a local 'roadtrain' and bus service that circulates around the area - the bus stop is a short walk from the house, where you can travel to the city of Alicante or the costal town of Santa Pola in under 30 mins for less than £1.
If you do have a car you can enhance you stay and drive to Terra Mitica or the Mundomar Aqua Park in 40 mins.
Distances
The bustling city of Alicante is 16kms away. The traditional fishing town of Santa Pola is 8kms from G.A. A trip to the historical city of Elche with its renowned Palm Parks is only 20kms away and well worth seeing. Benidorm sights such as the Terra Mitica theme park and Mundomar Aqua Park are a 50 Kms away from the house. Torrevieja is a 35km drive south of Gran Alacant on the N332 with Guadamar being a shorter drive on the same road south 2 kms away.
Further details
Gran Alacant has 6 good quality supermarkets and all less than 5 minutes drive from our holiday rental properties. As you would expect Gran Alacant also has pharmacies, banks (all with cash machines), panaderias (bakers), heladerias (ice cream parlours), a video/DVD rental shop, internet cafes, hairdressers, nail bar, petrol station and car/scooter rental agencies.
Night life in Gran Alacant is low key with the emphasis on good food and good wine with more than 80 bars and restaurants to choose from. From simple snacks to the various menu del dias as well as superb Indian, Italian, Japanese and Chinese food - every taste is well and truly catered for, and at good prices as well!
For walkers there are a number of clearly marked trails in the Nature Park that surrounds Gran Alacant. Birdwatchers will also enjoy following the trails as there are many species to be seen at all times of the year. A little further afield there is excellent walking near the Santa Pola lighthouse whose light can be seen most evenings from Gran Alacant.
Booking notes
Booking deposit is £75 (100 euros) with final payment to be made 6 weeks before the holiday start. To ensure a high standard of care in the property a additional key and security deposit is required of £75 (100 euros). This is fully refunded following a exit inspection. Keyholder cost is 40 euros which you must leave to cover cleaning of the house and providing a laundry service for the towels and sheets used. (Payable locally). We also recommend that you take out appropriate travel insurance.

Just a wee mail from the Wilsons, we really had an enjoyable stay in Casa Lauren, normally we go for the package holiday in a hotel in the more touristy spots, so this was quite a risk for us with such a change in holiday style. Yes it was quiet but we really enjoyed the change and would have no hesitation in returning there.

About the owner
We live and work in Coventry and have three children. After holidaying all over Spain for many years we decided that we wanted a permanent place of our own in Spain and that's when 'Casa Lauren' turned into a reality. We love the area so much and our place in Spain is genuinely our second home and we spend as much time as work (and airfares) permits in Gran Alacant. If you stay at our home you will see that we have worked hard to make it as comfortable as possible and we both enjoy being part of the community when staying there and we take a active role in making the area a better place for anyone that visits as well as ourselves!

Why the owner chose a home in this location
When we decided to buy in Spain we had no idea where we were going to choose. We did some research and also made a list of priorities. We wanted to be close to the airport so that there were no long transfers and we wanted to have a really good beach close by. We didn't want an apartment and were keen to have a house or villa. We hadn't been on holiday in this area before buying and was so pleased to find how fantatstic the area was from both a 'beach holiday' and 'exploration / location' point of view for this part of Spain.
When the chance came to buy this we didn't hesitate as it really ticked all the boxes. We haven't regretted a moment since!
Unique benefits of the property
As mentioned the closeness to all the amenities, airport and beach is a great advantage, But with all the choice we had when we were buying we were so lucky to get a house that is unoverlooked and facing just the right way!
Even in Winter you can sit in the front garden for most of the day if is sunny (which it usually is) sheltered from any wind and sunbathe. The orientation of the house gives it a warmth that some properties lack and we are really glad we made this choice.
The style and size of the house has allowed us to make this a real home from home and whenever we stay we can switch comfortably into a more relaxed way of life.
Whilst you are just a short walk away from all you need the location is such that you are rarely disturbed by noise and passing traffic is negligable.
