Just two or three steps lead to the lower apartment. A Stone stairway leads to the upper apartment from the courtyard, the entrance way opens up into a bright and airy open plan kitch/lounge/diner. Stairs from the living room lead to two terraces that have views to die for. The terraces are ideal for sunbathing or for relaxation with a glass of wine and dining alfresco after a day of exploration. A second stairway leads to the roof terrace having a 360 degree panoramic view of the whole village and outlying countryside. Gaucin lies on the edge of two of Andalusia’s impressive National Parks, Los Alcornocales and Sierra de Grazalema, which offer stunning walking and great opportunities for bird watchers. Gaucin is also on the flight path of migratory birds between N Africa and Europe. If you like wildlife then you have come to the right place, butterflies abound, the birds are exotic and wild flowers carpet the lush meadows.

Distances
Magnificent Ronda lies 45 minutes away to the east along the famous White Villages route passing a string of other picturesque pueblos blancos. Cortes de la Frontera can be reached in 30 minutes and Casares is also a 30 minute drive.
Granada and the Alhambra palace can be reached for a day trip.
Further details
Gaucin is perhaps the most beautiful of Andalucia’s Pueblos Blancos, or White Villages, surrounded by picturesque and varied scenery studded with olive, oak, carob and chestnut trees. Perched 630 metres (2,000 feet) up on a mountain balcony against the backdrop of the Serrania de Ronda mountain range, and window to the famous town of Ronda. From the many miradors within the town there are terrific views down the Genal River Valley to the Mediterranean coast, Gibraltar and the Rif mountains of Morocco. Here, in this unspoilt country village of only 2,000 inhabitants, there is a small but well established international community ensuring that all year round there is a lively and varied range of tapas bars, cafes (including an internet cafe), restaurants (mainly April - October) and other essential services (ATM, pharmacy, post office, market, shops, supermarkets, taxis, public swimming pool in summer etc). There is also a railway station, on the scenic line from Algeciras to Ronda and beyond, just a 10 minute drive from Gaucin. For those of you who need to stay in touch, mobile phone reception is also excellent, and there is a nearby telephone booth.
Booking notes
A provisional booking can be made by e-mail or telephone and must followed by a £100 deposit payable within 7 days. The balance must be paid 6 weeks before the let commences and will include a £100 refundable retainer in case of damage or breakages.

Owner profile
Bob and Dawn at home in Gaucin
About the owner
Hello and a warm welcome from Bob and Dawn to sunny Spain. We fell in love with the beautiful village of Gaucin during our visit in 2006. The unique and special ambiance of this 'pueblo blanco' is quite special, the evenings are magical as you sit admiring the wonderful sunsets and moon-lit skies from our terraces. The scenery is stunning and views down to the coast are magnificent. We base our successful bird tour company (wingspan bird tours) from our home in Gaucin where we offer day tours to give you a unique opportunity to sample the 'real Spain' and enjoy a wonderful day watching wildlife.
Year purchased: 2004
Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We love Gaucin because it has a uniqueness, a wonderful friendly atmosphere and it is truly beautiful.
The quiet narrow streets, the colourful plazas, good selection of restaurants and tapas bars. Everyone smiles and greets you when you stroll through the village.
Within easy reach of the coast, Ronda and to several other pueblos blancos. Gaucin is an ideal choice for tourists, walkers, wildlife watchers, cyclist and culture lovers. For the art lover, Gaucin is home to many artists and sculptors.
Its position in southern Andalucia is centred on the migration route of thousands of birds, it is just perfect as a base from which to run our bird watching tours. There are hundreds of excellent places to visit for exciting bird-watching day tours and a huge variety of species to see.
Unique benefits of the property
From its cobble-stone courtyard to its Moorish influenced architecture our house and apartments are truly unique. As many of our clients have told us, it is a wonderful, magical and relaxing place to stay.
We are within a few minutes walk of all the local amenities including good supermarkets, specialty shops and a great organic shop, with internet facilities.
Enjoy your meals from a choice of three terraces with fantastic views of the surrounding countryside and the coast beyond or visit one of the numerous restaurants and tapas bars that Gaucin has to offer.
We love to welcome visitors to our house and to share in the same feelings of wonderment that we had the very first time that we set foot in Gaucin.
