Set in beautiful walking country, the house provides an increasingly rare opportunity to experience unspoilt rural Spain. It is ideal for the independent-minded traveller who enjoys the natural world and is looking for something a little bit different. Perched on the side of an exquisite valley, the house commands spectacular views. Very much in the old Asturian country style yet with modern amenities and recently rewired, the accommodation is all on one level directly accessed from the drive. The centre of the house is a pleasant family kitchen with small utility room, from which wooden stairs lead to a storage loft space upstairs. There is a small sitting room, one double bedroom and a modern bathroom with wc. Below the accommodation floor is a barn space which is used to store wood.

Notes on accommodation
The heart of the house is the kitchen dining area, with the small living room and bedroom and bathroom all leading off from this space. A very efficient gas heater heats up the whole house very quickly if required. There is a hair dryer. Pets are welcome.
Outside
Outside you can sit and enjoy the spectacular views. A small garden table and chairs are provided. There is a covered area near the house for parking.
Coast/Beach
35 minutes drive from the nearest beach (Playa de Cueva).
Travel
50 minutes drive from main Oviedo Airport (Asturias).
Distances
20 minutes drive from thriving local town of Trevias and 40 minutes to the lovely seaside port of Luarca.
Further details
The local town of Trevias (20 minutes drive away) is well supplied with most amenities, a supermarket, local bakery, several banks, bars and a very good restaurant, La Union where the Menu of the day is well priced. The town even has its own vintners! La Espiniella is very well placed to explore the little known central and west coast of Asturias and it is only 2 and a half hours drive away from the beautiful city of Leon over the stunning Picos de Europa.

Booking notes
A 25% non-refundable and non-negotiable deposit is required to secure the booking. Full amount payable 8 weeks before arrival.
Cancellation refunds:-
Anytime until 8 weeks before arrival – Any payment made excepting the deposit will be refunded.
4-8 weeks – 50% of rate refunded.
2-4 weeks – 25% of rate refunded.
Less than 2 weeks – no refund.

About the owner
I live in the beautiful west of Scotland, but I grew up in Spain in the 1960s. I work as a designer and my husband is an architect.
Why the owner chose a home in this location
I fell in love with Asturias because it reminded me so much of the unspoilt Spain in which I grew up. Tourism has barely reached the areas where we have our properties. It is an astoundingly beautiful country and we have found the Asturians to be warm and generous spirited people, rich in their traditions, and respectful of the natural world. The geological contrasts within the country are extraordinary too, as the land sweeps from the Picos de Europa mountain range down to quite wonderful bays, where you can still find yourself the only people on the beach.
