Ideal for beach or countryside: Sunny, south-west facing, Montmar is situated in a small gated community on the Torre Vella estate, mid-way between the former fishing village of L'Estartit and the market town of Torrella di Montgri. The house has mountain views and a private rear garden, with access to the forested Muntaya Gran national park, offering many kilometres of walks – including along the GR 92 national path, which follows a lazy trail through much of northern Catalunya. L’Estartit is central to a marine reserve which includes the Isles Medes, providing some of the best sub-aqua diving sites in Spain, whilst there are several top-class golf courses in the area.

Changeover day
Change-over day is normally Friday, allowing even one-week visitors a full weekend at the house.

Accessibility
The house is reached via steps, and is on three levels, therefore the property is not suitable for people of reduced mobility.
Outside
The small community (14 houses in all) is gated, and has a communal pool with separate toddler pool. The house has its own private rear garden, with table and chairs, and barbecue. A rear gate leads directly into the national park forest. The house also has its own garage.
Coast/Beach
The former fishing village of L'Estartit, with large sandy beach and marina, is five minutes drive from the house. Pals beach (Platja de Pals) extending for more than 2 kms around Baix Emporda is only 5kms away.
Sailing, windsurfing, para-sailing, and sea angling, are other popular pastimes. There is also a go-kart track nearby.
Golf
There are several top-class golf courses within an half-hour drive, particularly: Golf Pitch and Put Gualta (lessons from English speaking professionals) and Golf Emporda near Torroella, and Serres de Pals and Platja de Pals near Pals.
Travel
Girona airport (Barcelona to Ryanair!) is approx 45 mins away, whilst both Barcelona (to the south) and Perpignan (north to France) airports are under two hours drive. For non-flyers, the house is approx 12 hours drive from Calais -or a day's train ride (Eurostar and TGV) from London to Girona.
A car is necessary to enjoy the delights of the surrounding area. Barcelona can be reached by train from Flaca, a half hour drive from Montmar.
Further details
Montmar is ideally situated for both beach and countryside. The former fishing village of L’Estartit, with beaches, shops, and marina, is three kms away, whilst the pleasures of the Catalunya countryside – with mediaeval towns and villages – are in easy reach. Many of the nearby villages have weekly markets, and the area is renowned for its fine cuisine. This is also Salvador Dali country, with the museum dedicated to the artist at Figueres, his house at Port Ligat, and the Gala Dali castle at Pubol, all within an hour’s drive. The vibrant cities of Barcelona and Girona are not far away, and a day’s trip to the Pyrenees is also a possibility. For the adventurous, France is only 80 kms!

Please contact the owners by e-mail or telephone. A non-returnable deposit of 30% is required on booking, with the balance payable 8 weeks before arrival date. A cheque for £100 covering safe return of keys and against accidental damage is also required - this will be refunded after the holiday.
