The villa is ideal for large family groups for you and your friends and is beautifully furnished with all home comforts, including a fully equipped kitchen,2 dining areas, 2 lounges (1 with open log fire) with satellite TV/DVD/Video/CD and broadband WiFi. Outside, the pool terrace and gardens provide plenty of sun and shade and a barbecue area. All 5 bedrooms enjoy ocean views - the upstairs bedrooms share a large sun terrace, the downstairs bedroom opens onto the pool terrace and the remaining 2 bedrooms are linked with a shared bathroom and open onto a garden terrace by the pool. Outside
The swimming pool is heated from September to June. It has a uniform depth of about 1.3m and is surrounded by a large patio with sun loungers. There are two additional patios with tables and seating for al fresco dining surrounding the villa and hideaway seating in the garden. The gardens are large, peaceful and with spectacular views to enjoy and shady places to retreat to. There is also parking on the property for 4/5 cars.
Coast/Beach
The walk to the beach takes about 10 minutes or an easy 2 min drive. The walk back is uphill as the villa sits on the top of a headland with breathtaking views across to Morocco and to Faro Trafalgar.
Golf
There are several good golf courses within easy reach which can be used all year round. Within 20 kilometres from the villa, you will find the Montenmedio course which ranks among the best in Europe, while at a distance of 40 km you will find the Benalup Golf Course (18 holes), the Sancti Petri (36 holes) and the San Andres Golf Course (9 holes).

Travel
Las Rocas is 30km north of Tarifa - a 1 hour drive from Gibraltar and Jerez airports or 2 hour from Malaga. A car is essential.

Distances
Cadiz, Gibraltar, Jerez and North Africa are all within easy reach. The area enjoys year-round sunshine while the Atlantic breezes keep temperatures pleasant during the summer peak.

The villa is superbly positioned on the Atlanterra headland overlooking secluded Cabo de Garcia bay and the long sandy beaches of Zahara. Within a 5 minutes drive there is local daily market, small supermarkets for your shopping and many great restaurants and bars. For more extensive shopping/dining Barbate and Vejer are only 15/20 minutes away. For those whi enjoy a more active holiday there is excellent windsurfing at Tarifa - the windsurf capital of Europe, kiting, scuba diving, swimming, horseback riding with tennis and golf additonally nearby; for those seeking cultural activities Cadiz, Seville, Jerez are all within a couple of hours from the villa, whereas for those who enjoy exploring the natural environment, there is great biological diversity with many nature reserves and the annual bird migration to Africa. There are superb walks directly from the villa into the surrounding unspoilt countryside.
Booking notes
Bookings can be held for 48 hours so that car hire and flights may be arranged. Thereafter a 30% deposit secures the booking with the balance due 8 weeks prior to arrival.

About the owner
Villa Las Rocas is my family holiday home too and it has become a real pleasure to share it with guests, especially when I know that they have enjoyed it as much as I do.
I absolutely love villa, this particular area of Spain, the people and the friends I have here. I spend as much time as I am able and sometimes that will be with my two grown up sons and their friends and partners. When I am not at the villa, I am probably in Surrey in the UK where I live and work as an executive coach, travelling generally or visiting my family in Cape Town.
Why the owner chose a home in this location
In September 2003, I was on Holiday in Zahara de Los Atunes. It was the first time I had visited the area. I had read and heard that it was an unspoilt part of the Spanish coast and very beautiful. It is! It is remote, private, quiet, close to nature and with gorgeous beaches and wonderful locals. And it reminded me of Cape Town where I was born.
I had a vague idea that I wanted a holiday place, little did I know that I would fall in love with this huge villa with spectacular views that needed an enormous amount of work.
By November 2003 it was ours and the labour of love began in January the following year. By May, our first guests arrived and raved about it ...and they have done ever since.
Unique benefits of the property
Las Rocas has an energy about it that makes one feel at home, comfortable and at peace. Everyone is bowled over by the views - they are truly spectacular. You can hear the waves breaking on the beach. If you are energetic you can walk to the beach with ease or lazy like me you drive.
You really get a chance to practise your Spanish as this part of the coast is as its supposed to be - very Spanish.
If your ideal holiday involves looking for energy, the kite surfing mecca of Tarifa is only 30 minutes away, from here you can also go whale watching or catch a 35 minute ride by ferry to Morocco. There are white villages, markets, beach bars and great cuisine which often involves locally caught fish. You can walk for miles into the countryside right from the front door... its heaven!
