Hacienda Riquelme is part of the 'Nicklaus Golf Trail'. Situated close to the village of Sucina, 15-20 minutes from Murcia City, 15 minutes from the warm safe waters of the Mar Menor and 15 minutes from Murcia Airport. The golf course is an 18 hole par 72 stretching 6416 metres from the back tee. It includes five lakes and plenty of bunkers to challenge your game! As you drive through the gatehouse the views of the resort will take your breath away, the place is stunning. Drive along Adriatico and the old Hacienda can be seen in front of you, and is amazing. Casa Escudo is a ground floor apartment with front line views of the golf course and stunning, newly restored Riquelme Country House (town centre). There are 19 swimming pools around the resort for your enjoyment, with the nearest one less than one minute away. Murcia has an exceptional climate with average daily temperatures of 21 degrees C, with 250 kms of coastline to explore. For more information check out our website!

Changeover days are usually Saturdays, but we will be flexible wherever possible. Arrival time after 3.00pm, departure time 10.00am, these times may be flexible depending on other bookings, please check with the owners.

Bathrooms: Large well fitted bathroom with 'walk-in power shower', WC, bidet, vanity unit and basin. Shower mat provided for safety. There is also and extractor fan fitted.
Kitchen: Large and fully equipped kitchen with oven, hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave/grill. Pots, pans and utensils. Iron and ironing board. Fire extinguisher and fire blanket. WI-FI connection. Everything you will need.
Utility Room: Your safety is very important to us so we have provided in the hallway a smoke/carbon monoxide detector, and a fire blanket and fire extinguisher in the kitchen.
Living Rooms: Lounge with 2 comfortable leather sofas, 26 inch LCD TV and satellite digibox, DVD player, music system with an assortment of CDs and DVDs. Games, playing cards and books, are provided to help you while away the hours.
Other: Open plan dining room with solid oak table and 4 leather chairs. Console table and mirror. Air conditioning, and central heating radiator.

This is a very comfortable apartment with full air conditioning, and gas central heating. It is a non-smoking apartment, Suitable for children. Sorry no pets. Welcome packs available, please contact the owners for details.

Accessibility
The apartment has very good access with plenty of nearby parking. From the large terrace you can walk out on to a lovely grassed area with seating in a central pergola. Take a seat and enjoy the view in peace and quiet.

Outside
There is a large terrace with pergola, patio furniture and sun loungers. The perfect place to relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the views and the stunning sunsets. Swimming pool within a 1 minute walk.
The property is surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens with olive trees and wild flowers, all within a secure gated environment, including frontline views of the golf course. Enjoy a peaceful evening stroll around the resort.

Coast/Beach
The Costa Calida has a stunning Mediterranean coastline with an average of 320 days sunshine per year. The beaches around the Mar Menor are clean and safe, with therapeutic mud baths, beneficial for bone and skin ailments. Take the ferry across to the 'La Manga Strip' for 8 euros return.

Golf
The Nicklaus Golf Trail comprising currently of Hacienda Riquelme, Mar Menor Resort, La Torre, and El Valle. When the whole trail is completed there will be 9 courses all within a 15 minute drive. There are several other courses in the area including Peraleja (next door), and La Manga club. The whole area is a golfers dream! The course is challenging and very enjoyable, you will want to try it again and again!

Travel
Murcia, San Javier airport is 15-20 minutes away, Alicante approx 60minutes. Mainline train station is 10 minutes drive at Balsicas. As car hire in Spain is very reasonable it is highly recommended to enjoy the sights of the region.

Distances
The village of Sucina is a 5 minute drive, with a petrol station, banks, supermarkets, bakers, cafes and tapas bars. Murcia city is approx 25-30 minutes away, with its glorious cathedral, restaurants, bars and exclusive designer shops. Los Alcazares, is an up and coming town, with beautiful beaches, shops, bars and restaurants. Cartagena is a lovely old city with an interesting maritime museum.

Further details
The stunning renovated Hacienda which opened on 23rd September 2010 is a great place to meet up with friends, relax and enjoy the views. It incorporates a large supermarket, Golf pro shop with changing rooms and showers, restaurants & bars. It has been refurbished in a very contemporary style which is welcoming and bright. The 'El Cason' restaurant serves Italian and Spanish food in the evenings at a very reasonable price, also tapas is available during the day. The sweeping marble staircase in the main house leads you to a lovely relaxation area and internet cafe. The beautiful gardens have been brought back to their original glory with roses and lavender planted amongst palm trees and lawns. The outside 'Las Palomas' bar is a very pleasant place to stop for a drink with views down the golf course, you could easily while away the hours here! it is great for your mid morning cup of coffee.

The supermarket is well stocked and reasonable priced, with fresh baked bread in the mornings.

In the centre of the Hacienda is a lovely courtyard, with orange and olive trees and a copy of the original marble fountain installed by the Riquelme family in the late 1800's. The whole resort is steeped in history and totally different to the usual style Spanish resorts.

There are children's play areas dotted around the resort, but if you want something different, why not try a water park, the Torrevieja Aqupolis is just a 30 minute drive away.

Water sports are available on the Mar Menor, including windsurfing, kite boarding & sailing. Jet skis are available for hire form ABC La Manga sport centre.

There are many leisure activities available in the area including horse riding at Pareleja (next door), cycling and go-karting in Los Alcazares.

From the first moment you arrive the resort and the apartment will delight you, from the perfectly manicured golf course and gardens to the friendly residents and holidaymakers, it is truly wonderful!

Booking notes
A cleaning cost of £60 is extra. A deposit of 25% is required at the time of booking confirmation. A £150 security/damage deposit is required which will be refunded within 2 weeks from the last day of rental, except where costs have been incurred. The balance is required 8 weeks prior to departure. Bookings can be made by phone, email or through the owners website (see below).

Guest comments
From the very first moment till the very last, the property and the resort didn't fail to amaze and amuse. The resort was clean, crisp and perfectly maintained. The pool was a cool oasis on those hot days. The flat was perfect, equipped to the highest standard and yet a real home away from home. We would definitely recommend the Hacienda to anyone looking for a relaxing time. However I would recommend that you have a car to explore the area, and the different foods available in the surrounding towns.

We arrived via Alicante Airport instead of Murcia and it was less than an hours drive. Red wine waiting and white wine chilled in the fridge on arrival all part of the excellent welcome pack. The apartment is an ideal base for a family or couples holiday, clean, tasteful decor and everything you need, even a large cool bag for your lunch time picnic. Lovely pool very close by and the added ground floor benefit of extra large patio and grassed area to enjoy. Very quiet location.

About the owner
We live in West Yorkshire, and have two Welsh Springer Spaniels, Gerry and Ruby, who keep us very busy. Andy works for Unilever in Leeds, and I work for a financial company also in Leeds. We absolutely love Murcia and go to Spain whenever possible. To us it is just like going home. We have had many holidays in different parts of the world, but more often than not the accommodation is very basic. The luxurious feel of the property helps to make it very special.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
Before we bought the property we researched a few different areas of Spain over a six month period but we were drawn to Murcia. We have not found anywhere else that makes us feel so at home. The beaches are wonderful and the Spanish people are very friendly, particularly if you try to speak the language. The apartment is home from home, we just love the way you can sit on the terrace and chill out and relax. the place is wonderful.

Unique benefits of the property
We particularly like the open space on HR, the apartment blocks are very spread out and it has a lovely feel about the place. Other resorts we looked at had a large building density which we found unappealing. Having the extended terrace overlooking the golf course is a bonus. We have taken a lot of care with the furnishings and artworks, and tried to make our little Spanish home unique. We deceided against buying a furniture pack, we wanted to be individual.
