Situated in one of Spain's sunniest regions and on the edge of the Cabo de gata Natural Park we can offer modern 3 bedroom and 4 bedroom apartments for rental. Each apartment has 2 bathrooms & all mod cons, with British & Spanish television. The garden is south facing (3 bed), and Terrace (4 bed) are fully equipped for outdoor entertaining. This complex is in El Toyo and is situated 5km from Almeria Airport transfer takes less than 10 mins. It is a quiet location with a sandy beach 400 metres away rolling into the Cabo de Gata Natural park which is enjoyed by walkers and the more adventurous. It is ideally situated for trips to traditional Spanish villages and to Roquetas which has attractions for the younger family market. Almeria city is only 10 mins by car and offers excellent shopping and various tourist attractions, the Alcazaba (castle) being well worth a visit. Exceptional rates between November and March for rentals of one month or more, for stays of less than one month prices start from £280 per/wk (2 bedroom Apt) for up to 4 sharing. Changeover day
In high season we ask for Sat to Sat bookings but are flexible at other times. Entry is after 2 pm (unless apt is ready) but we will be happy to look after your luggage if you arrive earlier so you can go to explore the local area. Departure is by 11am.
Notes on accommodation
This is a sample of our apartments. Please ask about others. All of our apartments are suitable for families with small children and a travel cot is available on request. Check our website. Just ask if you have any special request and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Accessibility
There is full access for people with mobility problems or with pushchairs via ramps and lifts. Most of our apartments are in secure, gated communities. There are communal pool(s), tennis/games courts and children's play areas. Because this is a new development the roads and walkways are finished to a good standard which makes getting around easy, there are also cycle/skating lanes around the area.
Outside
The south facing garden (3 bed) has a large table with 6 chairs, parasol, a lounger and two reclining garden chairs. A barbecue and utensils (you need to buy your own coals). The Terrace (4 bed) has a table and eight chairs.
Coast/Beach
It is only 400 meters to the local beach. There are also other beaches within easy driving distance each offering its own attraction. Roquetas del Mar is about 40 mins by car but offers lots of entertainment for the younger age group. Carbonares and Mojacar are also well worth a visit. The beach near to Almeria town (about 15 min drive along the coast road) is very popular with the locals and offers a great choice of bars and restaurants.
Golf
The Alboran Golf course runs along the side of this complex and the Golf club house is a 6 or 7 min walk. This is an 18 hole course built specifically for the Mediterranean Games. We can arrange discounted green fees. Contact us for further information.
Skiing
Granada is 1hr 45mins drive away, go visit the famous Alhambra Palace and Granada itself. There and in smaller villages in the Sierra Nevada, you can ski in the winter months, try The British Ski Center (yes it is spelt this way).
Special interest holidays
Hikers can enjoy the unspoilt terrain of the nearby Cabo de Gata. There are many trails to follow and some lovely unspoilt beaches which are off the beaten track. A very popular area for hikers and walkers of all abilities. The Sierra Nevada and other mountain ranger offer a more exerting challenging. You will also see a lot of very serious cyclists, sometime alone but often in groups wearing club colours. It is a very popular area for cyclists.
Travel
5 km to Almeria airport. 2 hrs drive from Murcia and Granada Airports, 2.5 hours from Malaga.
Distances
There are local shops, bars and eateries plus 5 four star hotels which allow you to use their facilities. All these hotels offer Spa services at discounted prices. You can also dine there in their Buffet style restaurants (eat as much as you want), prices are very reasonable. The historic city of Almeria is 15 min drive and there you will find plenty of shops, restaurants and places of interest. Spanish villages within easy reach. Mini Hollywood 20 mins drive, 2 water parks about 35mins drive.
Further details
Although a car is necessary if you want to travel further afield it is not essential. There is a bus into Almeria town (about every 45 mins). The bus stop for this is about 100 from the apartments. There are local bars and restaurants about 20 min walk along the sea front (a nice stroll). The Hotels allow you to use their pools and facilities and you can dine there at very reasonable prices. This is a new development and new facilities are being opened every time I visit.
Booking notes

A non-refundable deposit of 20% is required on confirmation of booking, the remainder being payable 6 weeks before commencement of stay (full amount payable on booking, if date is less than 6 weeks before stay). Payments in GBP. An additional refundable security deposit of 200€ required on receipt of the key. This will be repaid within 7 working days from departure if apartment left in an acceptable condition.

About the owner
My son and I offer apartments for rental in El Toyo. We are small but offer a friendly professional service with high quality apartments. The apartments are privately owned and have a great many personal touches to them which makes them feel more like home from home. We understand that your holiday is important to you and therefore it is important to us to make your stay with us an enjoyable experience. We do not like the impersonal approach of most holiday rental services and therefore like to invite you to feel at ease to ask us for anything you would like, to make your stay as relaxing and comfortable as possible we will always try to provide for your needs, of course within reason. I live in El Toyo for a large part of the year and have good knowledge of the area.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
The concept of El Toyo was born when Almeria won the rights to house the Mediterranean games for 2005. Provincial and local governments decided to develop an area on the edge of the renown Cabo de Gata Natural Park into an 'up market' tourist area. It is still under development as the project was enormous but plans are to make it a tourist attraction for the more discerning traveller. Initially it was used as the 'Olympic Village' for the 2005 games and then as a residential/holiday resort. Almeria has long been a holiday resort for the Spanish people so if you prefer to be in 'Spain' rather than 'Spanish England' then this is the place to visit. I get to practice Spanish with the locals and they to speak English with me. This is why I decided to buy my place there.
Unique benefits of the property
El Toyo is only 5 km from the airport and 13 km from the City centre. The apartments are within easy walking distance (300/400 mtrs) from the beach. The paseo is a peaceful, pleasant walk to the local bars and restaurants. There are 5, 4* hotels within a few minutes walk, these give us a 20% discount on their spa, massage and gym facilities. In addition to our own communal pools you can use those at the hotels. The local bus goes into Almeria City. Life here is very relaxing and all of our visitors have been very impressed with both the area and our properties and some have returned for 2 and 3 years running. We are next to the Alboran Golf course where discounted green fees can be arranged. Our apartments have European satellite TV & Spanish digital TV showing some programmes in English.
