Christine and Tony would like to welcome you to their finca in a green valley amongst stunning mountain views in the Els Ports Natural Park, halfway between the villages of Alfara de Carles and Els Reguers. Shared use of the fully screened traditional Spanish pool and sunbathing lawn with the owners. If the weather is inclement use the indoor charcoal barbecue kitchen for your main meal. At the right time of the year wander down the garden and pick the oranges for your morning juice. From your balcony watch the vultures and eagles circling on the thermals over the finca, listen to the nightingales or at dusk see the ibex come off the mountainside to quench their thirst at the ravine just down the road. Enjoy short guided walks out of the heat of the day with the Tony and his dog, or take advantage of longer walks by using the guide books and maps supplied in the apartment. A fantastic area to enjoy the sights and sounds of rural Spain. The property is not serviced by public transport.

Please enquire about special prices for long lets. 20% Late Booking discount available on reservations made within one calender month of arrival. Long lets (minimum 4 weeks) are available during the winter months at 100 Euros per week, excluding gas and electricity (charged at cost)
Changeover day
Bookings can be accepted on any day of the week, with arrivals after 4pm and departure before 11am. The apartment is normally only let for periods of 1 week or longer, but please check for late availability short breaks.

Notes on accommodation
This is a non-smoking apartment, but you are free to smoke on the balcony or in the garden. The air-conditioning is a dual system with heating facility. The upper bunk bed is not suitable for use by adults. A small gas barbecue is situated on the balcony.
Accessibility
This property is not suitable for persons with mobility problems.
Outside
How can one describe the tranquility of the garden which is surrounded by stunning mountain views, almost coming down to the edge of the property? Our latest guests said 'paradise' and found it hard to leave in order to go out and about! In fact it is the perfect place to chill out.
The garden has a terrace area with dining table for 4 persons and has a gas BBQ. The indoor barbecue table can seat 10 persons, so please feel free to bring your friends around. Tony will prepare a barbecue here for you during your holiday. The sun-bathing lawn has a swing hammock and sun-loungers for 4 persons. A smaller area down the garden has two slung hammocks and large parasol. The traditional swimming pool 5m x 3m and 1.2m deep is filled with water from the mountain streams. It has a small poolside table for 2. On request it can be securely gated against access by small children. Badminton net and equipment. Outdoor heated shower. Use of seasonal produce from the vegetable garden.
Coast/Beach
The beaches and coves at L'Ampolla are an easy 40 minute drive and a similar drive will bring you to the Ebro Delta where there are not only secluded beaches, but also lagoons where a great variety of water fowl can be spotted. The Playa del Torn naturist beach at L'Hospitalet de l'Infant is approx 1 hour's drive.
Special interest holidays
The Els Ports are a fantastic area for walking and we are pleased to offer you the chance to enjoy these walks either by accompanying the owner when he takes his dog out, by arranging full day guided walks with a professional or by use of the maps and guides available in the apartment.
Guided bird-watching tours can also be arranged in the Els Ports or on the Ebro Delta. But why go on a guided trip when you can sit in the garden and watch the vultures wheel overhead, see the bee-eaters sit on the telephone wires or listen to the nightingales singing in the spring.
Catfishing trips can also be arranged.
All arranged activities incur an extra charge. Clothing optional holidays. If you wish to get an all-over tan or go skinny dipping then we are happy to accommodate you, but please let us know first.
Travel
The nearest airport, Reus 65 miles is served by Ryanair throughout the year and other charter lines during the summer. Barcelona and Valencia are approximately a 2 hour drive. A car is essential as the property is not serviced by public transport.

Further details
The finca is situated at the side of the main road to Alfara de Carles (no unmade mountain tracks), making the city of Tortosa an easy 18k drive away. Alfara has a small grocers, 2 bakers and 2 butchers and 3 bar/ restaurants. Els Reguers has a similar selection of shops and restaurants. There are also 2 bull farms in the vicinity where it is possible to dine on a Sunday. The nearby towns of Tortosa and Roquetes have a wide variety of shops, bars, restaurants and supermarkets.
The town of Horta St Joan on the other side of the natural park has a small museum dedicated to Picasso who spent 2 years there in his youth whilst recovering from illness. Whilst on your way there why not call in at Font Calda where the springs are said to be therapeutic. Tarragona is the largest site after Rome itself for viewing remains of the Roman Empire. Barcelona is famous for its modernistic architecture as inspired by Gaudi, to whom an exhibition is dedicated in the city of Reus.
The river Ebro is famous for its catfish and fishing trips can be arranged, but are rather expensive. Full-day guided walking and bird-watching tours can be arranged on request.

A non-refundable deposit of 20% is requested at the time of reservation with final balance due six weeks prior to arrival. In the event of cancellation after payment of the final balance we will do our best to relet and if successful will arrange for the return of this to you. Payment by Paypal (invoice email).
