Coast/Beach
Alcaidesa has a wonderful 3 miles of beach with a variety of great beach bars in summer. Only 45 minutes away is Tarifa, famous for kite surfing and wind surfing, and only 10 minutes is Sotogrande, where you can hire a boat, go deep sea fishing or learn to sail. Or if you fancy going dolphin and whale watching - Gibraltar is also only 20 minutes away. From the harbour there are dolphin trips, diving trips, fishing expeditions and boat hire. There is also a Morrison's supermarket open 7 days!
Golf
Golf is one of the key attractions to this area of Spain. In addition to the Alcaidesa Links and new Heath courses adjacent to the Birdie Club, there are 5 world class golf courses located within minutes, including Valderrama, Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande, La Reserva and San Roque Club. Many other courses are within half an hour.
Travel
Car needed. Alcaidesa is situated in the Costa Del Sol just an hours drive away from Malaga airport and 15 minute drive from Gibraltar airport. Alcaidesa has a fantastic golf course which is only 5 minutes from the apartment, also Valderrama golf course is only a 10 minute drive. The well known resorts of Peurto Banus, Marbella and Estepona are all within 20-30 minutes drive away and of course Gibraltar is only 10-15 minutes drive away for your duty free shopping.

Forming part of Alcaidesa, the only resort of its kind in the area, Alcaidesa Birdie is conveniently located on the doorstep of Sotogrande and only 20 minutes drive east of Gibraltar. Fantastic sea views to Gibraltar and Africa, splendid golf courses and an abundance of natural beauty make the complex a very special setting. Alcaidesa links course offers stunning views of the Rock of Gibraltar and the coast of North Africa. Within 10 minutes drive are the famous golf courses of Valderrama, San Roque and Sotogrande. The coastline averages 320 days of sunshine and Alcaidesa is blessed with 4km of blue flag beach ideal to spend your time relaxing with a cold beer. It has beautiful sunshine from late April till early October so is ideal for a beach holiday. July and August the temperature is never much below 30c. Alcaidesa has a fantastic golf course which is only 5 minutes from the apartment, also Valderrama golf course is only a 10 minute drive. Also, close by is Marbella for your shopping and the infamous Puerto Banus where you can go star spotting at the ports lovely restaurants and night life is pretty hot there too! There is many markets and festivals going on but is best to get the local paper which will tell you exactly what is happening at you time of stay. But if you just want a relaxing holiday you need not leave Alcaidesa with its own lovely beach which in the summer months have lovely beach restaurants (which you must book to avoid disappointment), has it own supermarket and local bar, ideal for windsurfing and sailing.
