This genuine old Rectory is situated in a small village at 900m in the lower Pyrenees surrounded by almond groves and overlooking a dramatic cultivated valley. The house is located to the south of the village and overlooks the church and fields. The property boasts many original features including large oak beams and oak doors. The house was built many years ago using traditional materials including local stone and authentic terracotta roof tiles, typical of many Catalan villages. Outside is a pretty balcony draped with vines, passionflowers and roses overlooking a courtyard with two large stone arches. Alfresco dining can be enjoyed on the lower terrace which has two traditional arches and tiled floor. The house has mains water, electricity and bottled gas for cooking and 1 portable heater. Air-conditioning has been installed in both the main bedroom and lounge which provides additional heating which can also be used for cooling in the summer months.

Outside
Outside, there is a pretty courtyard overlooked by the lower terrace and balcony where you can sit and relax, and it's a great place to sunbathe. Swallows often fly in between the arches and in the evening you will hear nothing but bats feeding in the still air and see nothing but a million stars.
Skiing
In the winter months, skiing is available in several resorts, the nearest being Port Aine, approximately one and half hours away by car.
Travel
Barcelona and Reus are the nearest airports, approximately 2.5 hours drive. There are several car hire companies based at Barcelona airport and bookings can be made in advance from the UK. Use of a car is strongly recommended for this area.
Distances
The market town of Tremp is approx 25 minutes away by car and has many shops, banks, bars and supermarkets. In the centre of town is La Rambla, a tree-lined avenue dotted with tables and chairs. Places of interest include the spectacular gorges at Villanova de Meia, Balaguer and Mont Rebei, all within an hour's drive from the property. The two local lakes offer water sports facilities during the summer, and the spectacular Aiguestortes National Park is 1.5 hours drive and won't disappoint.
Further details
There are several outdoor swimming pools in the area, perhaps the most stunning is the one at Vilanova de Meia, approx 45 minutes drive. There is another at Hotel Terradets which also has a nice restaurant overlooking the lake where it is also possible to swim. Close by is the small train station at Cellers where it is possible to catch the little orange train to Pobla de Segur (gateway to the high mountains) and take in the stunning views of the lakes and mountains. The station/hostal also provides snacks/pizzas and beers which can be enjoyed in this unique setting. Once the snow begins to melt and the Noguera River fills, the white water rafting companies open their doors, offering an exhilarating and unique experience. The gorge at Vilanova de Meia offers some of the finest rock climbing in Europe attracting climbers from far and wide. The whole area is a birdwatcher's paradise. Often seen in spring and summer are hoopoe, golden oriole, golden eagle, short toed eagle and the rare majestic Lammergeier. Further details regarding the above are contained in an information pack at the property.
