Cotrijo Los Arrendajos is a stunningly situated new house built in a traditional Spanish style, featuring wooden ceilings and terracotta floor tiles throughout. It is set in its own grounds of 3.5 acres and is very secluded without being remote. The house overlooks a rich mixture of olive groves, arable farming land and dramatic mountain scenery. Its modern conveniences, comfortable furnishings and wonderful views offer visitors the chance to relax and enjoy the best of rural Spanish life. 2 hours after landing at Malaga (or 1 hour from Granada) visitors can be relaxing by their pool, soaking up the atmosphere and planning holiday excursions and activities. Montefrio has everything that a visitor could want for a super holiday and Granada, 1 hours drive away, offers a complete contrast with its buzzing atmosphere and wealth of historical interest. The Alhambra is the most amazing palace to visit and for children the Aquaola water park and the interactive Science Park are musts.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds.
There is a surcharge of £20 per week for the use of the extra beds and linen. Discounts may be available for periods longer than 1 week.
Changeover day
In order to accommodate visitors who are looking for cheap flights we do not have a set changeover day. Depending on bookings we may ask visitors to leave by 10am or not to arrive before 5pm.

Accessibility
The accommodation is situated all on one level therefore making it suitable for those with mobility problems.
Outside
The house has 3.5 acres of uncultivated grounds which are a haven for wildlife such as hares, grouse, swallows and swifts. There are tracks and paths which one can follow and explore either on foot or mountain bike. Part of this ground has been fenced in to provide privacy around the house for visitors. The top, south-facing terrace has a covered shady area for protection in summer and gives access to the 8m x 5m private pool, from here one can swim, gaze at the mountains in the distance and look for eagles at the same time. Outdoor dining furniture is provided as are the sun loungers and the gas fuelled barbecue.
Coast/Beach
Coastal resorts such as Nerja, Salobrena and Malaga are about 1.5 hours drive away. Marbella and Puerto Banus are approximately 2 hours away. The beautiful village of Iznajar has a lakeside beach and is roughly 45 minutes away from the property.
Travel
Malaga Airport is approximately an hour and a half away. Granada Airport is one hour away and car hire is essential whichever airport is used. We can advise on good value car hire firms at the airports or on request we can arrange pick up at the airport and suggest local car hire firms.
Distances
The nearest village is Montefrio at 8kms. Granada is just under 1 hours drive. The Alpujarras mountains and the Sierra Nevada are 1 3/4 hours drive. Cordoba and Seville are amazing places to visit and are just over 2 hours drive away or there is a railway link.
Further details
Montefrio hides an amazing number of shops, bars, restaurants and facilities. It is dominated by the hilltop church (now an interactive museum) which is nationally recognised throughout Spain, in fact in 2006 the striking view also made the front cover of UK's 'Country Life' magazine. Many of the bars have very reasonable dining rooms which are not always apparent from the pavement but we have excellent agents in the town who are always on hand to give advice about which restaurant to try or which bars are currently giving away the best tapas!
There is a market every Monday in Montefrio and the two large supermarkets and the number of bakers, fruit and veg merchants, butchers etc mean that everything is available locally. Beware, though, that it is very easy to walk past some of the shops without realising what they are. There are two main banks in the town and English is spoken in at least one of them.
The town of Alcala La Real is larger and is a beautiful town to explore and to try out the 'chocolate and churros' in the park.
For children of all ages the Water Park on the outskirts of Granada makes a lovely day out. It is attractively landscaped on a hillside and has cafes and bars in the grounds where the less energetic can relax without even thinking of trying a water chute!
The Donkey Sanctuary and the Wolf Park make fascinating visits for those keen on animals, as does the 'Flamingo Lake' when at certain times of the year there can be thousands of flamingos feeding in the shallow lake. These three are all approximately 1. 5 hours drive from Cortijo Los Arrendajos.
Booking notes
20% of the fee secures the booking and the remainder is due at least 4 weeks before arrival.
