This is a large farmhouse with oodles of internal and outside space. Being newly renovated, everything works and is modern, although original features have been preserved. Sitting on either of the terraces, the extensive view is of olives trees, sheep grazing and being moved on by the shepherd, eagles, bee-eaters, rollers, hoopoes and a variety of other birds, wildflowers, hills in the middle distance, mountains in the background. The overpowering feeling is of quietness and space. If you are self-contained people, you don't have to move far to have an enjoyable holiday: walking to various scenic locations, barbecues, picnics, reading in the chair hammock on the terrace, refreshing yourself in the outside spa. To have a break from all that relaxation, you can take any number of drives through rugged mountain country within a stone's throw. Nearby towns, authentically Spanish and unspoiled by tourist activity, give you a taste of the real Spain.

Accessibility
As the living space is upstairs, sadly this house is not wheel-chair friendly.

Outside
There is a double BBQ. Close by is a very large outside table, shaded in summer and unshaded in winter.
Yet another eating space is the "walled garden", providing a perfect space for breakfast in summer, lunch in winter and gently-lit evening entertaining.
A preferred alternative to a swimming pool is the outside SPA. In summer, at its lowest setting, it is a good cooling system. At other times of the year, heated and surrounded by nature, it is a very special experience. A starry night in this huge black night sky is best viewed from a steamy spa with a glass of wine in hand.
A traditional bread oven.
Boules court.
On the far side of the olive grove is a further table with benches, good for picnicking or a sundowner.

Travel
Alicante or Murcia (San Javier) airports are equally suitable. Both are 2.25 hours by car to the property. If you arrive by air, it is essential to hire a car. A range of car hire companies operate from both airports.
If you drive from France into Spain at either San Sebastian or Perpignan, it is a further 10 hours to the property. Car ferry from the UK provides a holiday in itself en route. Either Plymouth to Santander or Southampton to Bilbao, there is a further 9 hours drive to the property.

Distances
The nearest village is 1 mile.
The nearest excellent restaurant is 10 minutes by car.
There are two extremely scenic, authentically Spanish towns (Yeste and Letur) within 20 minutes.
The "service town" of the region is Elche de la Sierra, is a 45 minute drive through stunning mountain scenery.
Riopar, 55 minutes by car, is an alpine area with white water rafting, horse riding, waterfalls, 3 top restaurants.

Further details
There are plenty of opportunities for walking, across agricultural land, through villages, over hills, through pine forests, up and down mountains if you're up for it. There are not many described walks - you tend to invent your own: walking across private land, as long as there is a track, is quite normal here.
Throughout the summer holiday period, all towns have really good swimming pools open. They are often in charming settings and are accompanied by restaurants.
Each town and village, even the smallest, celebrates its fiesta, generally July, August or September: communal eating and drinking, dancing, fireworks, touring brass bands, activities for the children, and at the centre of it all, the running of the bulls when the foolish or the brave like to test themselves.
In May you will be amazed by a festival in Elche de la Sierra. The streets of the old town are covered by elaborate and colourful pictures composed of dyed, ground sawdust and constructed by local townsfolk.
A car journey of 1.25 hours will take you to a sophisticated health resort and hotel, with an outstanding outside swimming pool. It is in the depths of a beautiful and remote valley and the drive to this resort includes fantastic mountain scenery. Good food can also be had there.
One hour to the south is a Roman Catholic Cathedral which has been hewn out of rock, with all of its architectural features composed of the native rock.
