El Tropezon is a traditionally built inn, beautifully restored, surrounded by olive and almond groves, set in an acre of land in the hills near Malaga. Private enclosed gardens contain the pool, BBQs, sun loungers, outside dining areas plus bright flowers. Inside is spacious and comfortable, exceptionally well equipped and furnished to a high standard. A 'home from home'. Only 5km from Colmenar, a true Andalucian village with a surprising number of bars, restaurants, shops, banks and 24 hour medical centre. The coast and golf courses are a 40 minute drive away. Easy striking distance of the great cities of Granada, Cordoba and Seville and the wildness of the national parks of El Torcal and Montes de Malaga.

Changeover day
A Saturday changeover day is preferable, but we are flexible. Similarly we are flexible with arrival and departure times.

Accessibility
Not really suitable for wheelchair users.
Outside
The house stands in a tranquil acre of olives and almonds with enclosed gardens around the house. The pool looks out over the hills and has a shower close by. One terrace is covered with seating for 8 plus table tennis table, dart board. The other terrace (with awnings) overlooks the pool. There are two dining tables, and seating for 9. All terrace furniture is wooden. A brick built barbecue is near the pool, plus there is a smaller transportable BBQ on wheels. Sun loungers and cushions for 8. Pool toys can be provided.
Coast/Beach
The coast is about a 40 minute drive away. The lively town of Torre del Mar is perhaps the closest, and a longer drive takes you to the more sophisticated towns such as Marbella and Puerto Banus. But all along the coast are many villages and towns with a huge choice of activities and restaurants.
Golf
Golf courses are 40 minutes drive away at Antequera in one direction, or near the coast.
Skiing
The Sierra Nevada hills offer great skiing in the colder months. The hills are above Granada, a drive of just over an hour.
Travel
Malaga airport is 45 minutes drive away. Granada airport is an hour by car and is the nicest airport, (being small and quick to pass through), but not many flights go there. A car is essential.
Distances
Colmenar, the nearest large village is 5km away. Antequera, the closest historic town is a 40 minute drive. Motorway links to Granada, Cordoba and Seville are 15 minutes away. It is an hour to Granada, two to Seville and about one and a half hours to Cordoba. On the edge of Colmenar lies the Montes de Malaga national park and the fascinating El Torcal park is 45 minutes away.

There is much to do in the area, and many places to visit. Way too many to list here. To aid our guests we have an information file covering everything from restaurants and wolf parks to day trips to Morocco. In addition there is a library of books covering the area.
Booking notes
A 20% deposit is requested with the booking. This can be paid through bank deposit (in the UK or Spain) or cheque. The remainder due to be paid 6 weeks before arrival when details of exactly how to find the house will be sent. Welcome packs are provided free.

About the owner
For a while we lived in both Spain and England - loving both and loving the different ways of life. But right now I am travelling overland to India, driving all the way, through Europe, north Africa, touching on the Orient, through Iran. There are many countries I wish to see, but Spain has a special hold. And whilst away I am delighted to have guests who enjoy their holidays at El Tropezon and have the same happy memories as we do.
