Our holiday complex comprises of 1 and 2 bedroom cottages built in the Andalucian style, surrounded by lush gardens and all with individual terraces and BBQs. The "soft" water swimming pool is securely fenced and 12 x 6m with depths from half to 2m. The many sports activities (including Mini Golf) for children make it an ideal family location. Wood burning stoves and reverse cycle air-conditioning make for comfortable all year round occupation. For those times when you prefer not to cook you can enjoy the professionally cooked food in our restaurant, or simply a drink with tapas on the terrace. A children's menu is of course available. The village of Periana, 1.5km away has all the usual facilities and a drive of 25 minutes will get you to the sea. There are many splendid walks and cycle rides to be made. We have good mobile phone signals and free Wi fi access is provided on the restaurant terrace and around all cottages. Special facilities for families with small children see website.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property in Euros. We will quote £,s on request. All above prices are per house not per person and include all taxes. Extra cost for sofa bed: 10€ per night. Please note the restaurant is closed during November. Pets 5€ per night.

Changeover day
Any day can be changeover day. Arrival after 16.00 hours and departure by 11.00 hours. Wherever possible we will be flexible with these times.

One bedroom with double bed and possibility of sofa bed in the sitting room. All bed linen and towels are provided and changed weekly.

Sitting room area has sofa, cupboards, dining table and chairs. TV with DVD player. Air-conditioning available.

One bedroom has twin beds and the other a double bed. There is also the possibility of sofa bed in sitting room. All bed linen and towels are provided and changed weekly.

Notes on accommodation
All houses have enclosed wood burning stoves and have reverse cycle air-conditioning. Gas and electric are included in prices but air conditioning and wood are payable as used. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are standard in all houses. A washing machine is available at a cost of 4 euros per load. Stair gates are available in two storey houses as are cots and high chairs, but must be reserved at time of booking. Well behaved pets are accepted subject to prior agreement. Arrive and leave on any day.

Wheelchair access to the restaurant and to some houses is possible, please enquire for details.

Outside
Each cottage has its own patio area with BBQ, table and chairs. The whole complex has been attractively landscaped and the gardens provide colour all year round. In Spring the surrounding land has flowers to rival any alpine meadow.
Around the 12 x 6m shared pool there are wide terraces with sun beds and umbrellas. The pool is normally open from April to October and has a security fence around it for the safety of young children.
There are swings, a slide and see saw, football area, Mini Golf, and other activities such as table tennis for children, all suitably located so as not to interfere with other guests.

Coast/Beach
The Mediterranean coast at Torre del Mar is 25 minutes drive.

Golf
We have a newly constructed Mini Golf course on site and there are two golf courses about 45 minutes away by car.

Skiing
Skiing in the Sierra Nevada is about 1 hour 45 minutes away.

Travel
Malaga airport is about 1 hour away and Granada 1 1/4 hours. Car hire is recommended.

Distances
Cantueso is 1.5 kilometers from the village of Periana.
The Mediterranean coast at Torre del Mar is 25 minutes drive and Malaga 1 hour and Granada 1 1/4 hours.
There are many interesting villages, walks and excursions that can be made.

Further details
The village of Periana has a good range of shops, bars, supermarkets, banks and a chemist.

Booking notes
A deposit of 30% is required upon booking with balance paid 8 weeks before arrival. Any special requirements should be mentioned at the time of booking. We are willing to make a temporary reservation pending flight confirmations without deposit.

Having enjoyed Cantueso as a couple on a number of occasions, we shared the experience with six other couples. All fourteen agreed that Nicky and her staff both planned and oversaw our stay in a most satisfactory way. There were NO complaints - nothing but plaudits. The convenience to airports, the village, supermarkets, places of interest, majestic scenery and wonderful walking country make this an ideal holiday centre for two to sixteen people.

About the owner
I'm Nicky Scott and have lived in and around Periana for quite a few years. I took over the Cantueso complex (self catering cottages and a restaurant) in January 2007 and have tried with our Spanish staff to create a special place to stay and/or eat. The menu is typically Spanish so no all day English breakfasts here! We have an advertising slogan that says "A View to Match the Food" which is some claim when you see the view but we really try to offer the best. Why the owner chose a home in this location
Cantueso has been described by one guest as "a little piece of Heaven" and we are indeed fortunate in having the most spectacular setting for our cottages. I fell in love with the place and I think you might too. It combines tranquility with beautiful surroundings and views to die for overlooking Lake Vinuela. Families are well catered for and we have plenty of things to keep children occupied including a newly completed Mini Golf course.
