Top floor apartment in the gated residential complex of Altea La Nova, which is in an exclusive area of Altea Hills in the Sierra de Altea. Panoramic views of the sea and mountains, and a short drive to excellent sandy and pebbly beaches. The typically Spanish village of Altea la Vella with its church, shops and restaurants is within a 5 minute drive. The historic town of Altea with its famous church and picturesque old quarter with restaurants, shops and galleries is just 10 minutes drive. For the family, there are large, child-friendly pools within the landscaped gardens of the complex, and a 15 minute drive from a number of Theme Parks. For the golfer there are a variety of courses in the area with one less than 5 minutes away. The area also provides opportunities for serious walkers, birdwatchers and sailors. Finally, for the less energetic the large sunny terrace has totally private sunbathing as well as shade.

In Summer months (June to September) the changeover day is usually Saturday - but we can be very flexible if other bookings allow.

Notes on accommodation
Suitable for children and elderly. Secured underground parking with lift access to floor gives easy access. Non-smokers preferred.

Accessibility
Can accommodate wheelchairs with lifts and ramps within the complex buildings. Our parking spot is close to the lift, as is our apartment.

Outside
The top-floor apartment has a large private terrace, extending from both the lounge and the master bedroom. The terrace is furnished with teak furnitue including a large table, 6 chairs and 2 sun-loungers. The shared child-friendly swimming pools are set within landscaped gardens.

Coast/Beach
Nearest beach is in Altea 3 kms away (pebbly) with long sandy beaches at Calpe just 6km away. The beaches are very clean with several children's play areas. The palm tree lined traditional Altea promenade is pedestrianised, and leads to the marina.

Golf
Its is less than a 5 minute drive to the nearest golf course (Don Cayo). There are 3 golf courses within 20 minutes drive - La Sella, Javea and Club Ifach Benissa, and others a little further away. Not all of these require evidence of handicap.

Special interest holidays
Excellent walking in the adjacent mountain ranges. Good birdwatching area. For the sailors there are a number of marinas close by. PADI diving locally.

Travel
The nearest airport is Alicante which is 45 minutes drive. Alternatively, Valencia airport is 90 minutes drive. A car is needed to enjoy this apartment and to explore the beautiful coastline, beaches and countryside. Car hire is easily accessed at both airports. Ferries for the Balearics leave Denia daily and this can be a great extra trip. There is also a coach service from Alicante airport to Benidorm and Calpe.

Further details
Altea is just 15 minutes north of Benidorm, but the two cultures are worlds apart. Altea is a restful and picturesque Spanish university and market town, with a labyrinth of small streets and beautiful views over the bay of Altea. The old and new parts of the town are divided with the old part being high on the hill and the lower part having designer shops, galleries selling hand-crafted goods as well as a range of good quality tapas bars and restaurants. The seafront promenade is lined with palm trees and has safe play areas. Altea is served both by a small local coastal railway linking Alicante with Denia, and by bus services. The local village of Altea La Vella, which is a 5 minute drive away, has good supermarkets, chemist, banks, greengrocer, newsagents, florist, bakeries, and a number of tapas bars and good restaurants. For the family there are Aqualandia, Terra Mitica and Natura Theme Parks, and for younger children the Mundomar Sea World which are all less than 10km away. The Palau performing arts centre in Altea provides a first class cultural focus for the whole region featuring ballet, opera, classical music and light entertainment. There are many local markets with the largest on the Costa Blanca in Altea every Tuesday. Guadalest, Calpe, Denia, Javea and Benidorm are all within a short drive.

Our standard terms are: a non-refundable deposit of 20% of the rental payable on booking, with the balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival; a further £100 deposit is also required to cover loss or breakages - this will be refunded (subject to breakages and damage) within 14 days of your departure.

We are retired and use the apartment as our second home, where we currently spend about 3 months a year. We only use this site to advertise the apartment.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We bought the apartment as we wanted a second home with an excellent climate, and that would have a strong Spanish yet cosmopolitan atmosphere. The complex is a 50% mix of residential and second home owners. The atmosphere at the complex is calm and comfortable, with a well run community administration.

Unique benefits of the property
It's well positioned for amenities as described in the apartment details and quiet in the evenings as there is, deliberately - no bar on site but there are a good selection a few kilometres away.
