Notes on accommodation
We regret, due to the spectacular mountainside location, no children under 8 years.
No pets allowed.

Accessibility
There are steps down from the road to get into the house. It is not wheelchair accessible.

Outside
Terraces with patio furniture, built in barbeque and outdoor shower. You can choose between sun and shady terraces. The glazed terrace has two pairs of double glass doors which can be opend in the warm weather. Private swimming pool 8m x 4m, depth 1 to 2m. The pool is unsuitable for diving or jumping in.

Coast/Beach
The coast is 10 minutes away, the extensive sandy beaches Stretching from Denia to Oliva are excellent offering good facilities and also quieter areas. Javea with its busy Arenal beach can be reached in 20 minutes.

Golf
La Sella has its own 18 and 9 hole golf courses and driving range. Club handicap certificate is required to play. Clubs can be hired, tuition available.

Special interest holidays
La Sella has an equestrian centre and country rides and tuition are available. There are 7 tennis courts, clay and hard surfaces, and tennis coaching is available.

Travel
Alicante and Valencia airports are 1 hours drive.
Details of car hire can be obtained from the owners.

Distances
Denia, with its ancient castle and busy ferry, fishing and leisure port is 15 minutes away by car. There are daily fast ferries to to Ibiza and on to Mallorca. A half hour drive takes you into the mountainous hinterland where villages and small towns such as Alcalali and Jalon, with excellent restaurants, markets and bodegas can be found.

Further details
There is a bar / restaurant on site by the tennis courts. It provides breakfast, lunch and dinner and wi-fi. There are very many local restaurants within 15 minute's drive. The local village of La Xara has a bank with cash machine, some shops and eating places and a good local supermarket. There is an office on La Sella where you can change money.

Booking notes
Deposit of £100 per week secures the booking and the balance is payable 4 weeks before you go.

Guest comments
We had a lovely, realxing time and the villa is so lovely, peaceful and private. The children had a wonderful time in the pool and improved their tennis skills dramatically thanks to Diego at the club ! We visited a few beaches and sites but the highlight for the children was definitely diving in the waterfalls (on the way to Guadalest). Mrs B W (2010).
Just a quick email to say how much we enjoyed our week at Villa Maria. The situation was even better than we expected with stunning views over the valley. The villa was very homely and we all felt very comfortable there. We were glad to see that Denia still maintains its charm.
We would definitely consider another holiday at La Sella.

About the owner
Mary and Brian had this house built 20 years ago. It is a home to us, though work has meant that we have only spent relatively short periods there so far. We have added terracing and the pool over the years. We are both in our mid 60's, Brian is a pharmacist who has worked for most of the last 11 years in an NHS primary care trust. He is now a self employed consultant. Mary started life as as scientist, moved into education and was for 15 years the Chief Executive of the Pre-Retirement Association of GB. We love to go to Spain for the weather, to go walking and swimming in the pool and sea, for our many friends there, and because it is so different from the New Forest where we live in the UK. We also love to have others use the house and enjoy it.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
Research showed it to be a lovely area with towns and cities, sea and mountains close to hand. Over the years we have never seen another devlopment which is better, in our view, than La Sella, where our house is. We go to walk in the winter, spring and autumn, we love the beach and the old Roman port of Denia (Dianum), just a few minutes away in the car. The beautiful mountain, Montgo, seen across the golf course, is a 'Parque Natural' and the views from the top are simply amazing! There are 2 airports with UK flights each just about an hour away.

Unique benefits of the property
We love the views, the choice of sun or shade on the terraces for most of the day. The pool is on the same level as the living space so it is easy to use and to supervise children and still be in or near the house itself. We also like to visit the local towns inland, all of which have markets. There is a wine growing area in the Jalon Valley and some great value restaurants there and in Alcalali, about 10km away.
