If you are looking for comfort, beauty, peace and privacy, all at reasonable prices, come to Casa Ana. This 400 year old house was once a family home, with an olive store, wine press and stables and has recently undergone extensive restoration. It was simply too beautiful to divide into holiday apartments and so offers you the luxury of sole use of accommodation and garden. Casa Ana is in Ferreirola (pop. 18!) with the advantages of mains electricity and water and easy access. Yet it looks out across the magnificent Trevelez river valley and is cradled by mountains. The only sounds are running water, goat bells and on summer nights, the song of nightingales. Outside are 4 south-facing garden terraces, descending down the mountain, and to the west, a secluded walled garden and roof terrace, all with stunning views. Getting to Casa Ana is straightforward. There is no need to drive down any dirt roads. Granada airport is under 90 minutes’ drive, and Malaga, under 2.5 hours.

Accessibility
The door from the street, the main entrance into the house, and the French doors leading to the dining terrace are all wide enough to admit wheelchairs. One large bedroom (with a double and a single bed and en suite bathroom) is suitable for wheelchair users. However, this is a mountainous area, and there are some steps down to the house, so we’d suggest that you contact us discuss your requirements before booking.

Outside
The French doors from the living area give onto a cascade of South-facing terraces with flower beds and seating areas furnished with tables and chairs, ideal for private dining, relaxing in the shade, or soaking up the sun. To the west is a secluded walled garden with pear, loquat and orange trees, a lawn and flower beds. It leads onto a south-facing roof terrace, ideal for sunbathing or stargazing, or simply watching the sun rise over the mountains.
Casa Ana is an ideal spot for walkers, whether you're interested in a 30 minute stroll or a 12-hour hike. Walks begin outside the front door and lead high into the mountains, or gently meander through woods and olive groves It is also superb for butterflies: one group recently identified 70 species in a week.

Coast/Beach
The nearest beach is at Salobrena, about 80 minutes drive away. This is a long, sandy beach, not too built up, with good restaurants at hand. The town is also worth visiting, with its medieval castle and museum. A little further are the towns of Almunecar and Nerja, both with good beaches and restaurants.

Skiing
The Sierra Nevada ski resort can be reached from Casa Ana as a day trip. It is about 2 hours drive away.

Special interest holidays
At Casa Ana in 2008 there are walking holidays, a creative writing workshop, a painting holiday, a Feldenkrais method workshop and a Mediterranean cookery course, and there is also an ongoing programme of bodywork, particularly somatic education. Many of these events will be repeated in 2009. Please see the Events page of our website for further details (see link below).

If you would like to run your own course or workshop we would love to hear from you. Please contact the owner, Anne (contact details below).
