Notes on accommodation
The apartment is on the first floor of a three story block with a lift from the underground garage and the ground floor. This apartment is not on a holiday complex - the other residents are a mix of Spanish and British people who live there with some apartments being holiday homes. The apartment would be better suited to a family with older children or adults. The apartment has been furnished in modern taste (mostly from Ikea) and is light and airy. The lounge faces out towards the village and the kitchen looks out over the mountains and the Ramblas. There are two bikes kept at the apartment for those who wish to explore the area.
Accessibility
The property is situated on the first floor of a 3 storey apartment block with lift access. There is a car park space in the underground car park with a lift to the first floor. The development is well lit at night and a minutes walk from the main street.
Outside
There is a terrace off the lounge which gets morning sun and is big enough to sit out on to take breakfast or sunbathe. There is another larger terrace at the front of the apartment which is large enough for 6 people to sit outside to eat with views over the mountains. This terrace faces west and therefore gets the evening sun and is cooler as it can be too hot to sit out in the sun sometimes especially in June-August.
Coast/Beach
Mojacar playa, Vera playa (part of this is a naturist beach)and Garrucha are all within a 20 min drive and are easy to get to. Mojacar playa stretches for several miles and there are plenty of shops, restaurants and facilities along the beach. Mojocar pueblo is a short drive up the hill and is full of cobbled streets, and authentic Moorish architecture and a thriving market on a Sunday morning. They are currently building a new marina at Garrucha.

There are several golf courses within a 15-20 minute drive from the apartment - or further afield but within 1-2 hr drive many more.

The apartment is situated just a 5-10 minute drive from the motorway and is very easy to access. Car hire is essential as public transport is scarce. However, the road network is new and it is very easy to get around the area.
Distances
The nearest large town of Vera is about 5kms away with the beaches at Vera Playa, Garrucha and Mojacar being 10-15kms respectively. Almeria city is 85kms.
Further details
The old part of Antas has charming streets and old houses and many of the new houses are built in the style of yesteryear with a view to retaining this charm. On August 15th a fiesta is held in Antas and the people come out to sample the tapas and to dance to the music of the pasadoble and rumba until the early hours. The large town of Vera is situated nearby and this, together with the proximity of the dual carriageway which stretches all along the coast, makes this a busy, lively community. Mojacar became a thriving artist's colony in the 1960's after the town's population dwindled and the local leaders gave away land to whoever would build on it which rekindled Mojacar's economy and the beach are became a favourite vacation treat for travellers. The town remains remarkably true to it's Moorish past and begs to be explored by foot. There are incredible views and echoes of the past will engulf you. Visit La FuenteMora (the Moorish Fountain) a history of the village is written upon the fountain's side, La Plaza Nueva (The New Plaza) with one of the best views in Mojacar, Puerta de la Almedina (The Old City Gate) you can see the coat of arms of Mojacar which was engraved above the arch in the 15th c, Casa del Torreon (The Old Customs House) an 18th c customs house where visitors were taxed for entering Mojacar and La Iglesia de Santa Maria (the Church of Santa Maria) which dates back to the 14th c. Almeria is famous for it's troglodyte villages where homes are dug out of the cliffs. The most interesting cave dweller settlements are Alhabia, Gador and Benahadux.
In the 1960's move directors filmed their own version of the wild west and the nearby village of Tabernas makes a good base for exploring the desert and visiting "mini Hollywood".
The vilage of Nijar is famous for it's numerous pottery workshops. Laujar de Andarax is the largest village in the Sierra Nevada National Park with superb views across the valley below and good walk in the surrounding hills.
