Old traditional stone built farmhouse with open log fire and wooden beam ceilings, completely refurbished to high standard, many original features. The property is situated on an old road that ends 50yds beyond the property and is very private. Access is along a level road and is 2 mins by car from the nearest motorway jn. 25 mins from Aviles airport. Total outdoor privacy is provided by the large covered south facing courtyard adjacent to the house. A welcome pack of food (butter, milk, pizza, bread, tea, coffee, cereal,pasta, sugar, oranges from the garden to eat or juice) and wine (4 reds 2 whites 2 cava) is included. The house water supply is from a high mountain capped spring and is of a very high purity (water certificate available for inspection showing mineral content similar to bottled water). The house is close to the local salmon/trout stream (license costs 15 euro for the year). Two fly rods (bring your own line +flies) + beach caster in the house.

Notes on accommodation
The accommodation is suitable for the elderly/infirm as the ground floor is all on one level and there are no steps from car to door. The ground floor double bedroom/bathroom/lounge with single sofa bed- accommodation may be used separately from the rest of the house if wished (the adjoining door may be locked and each part of the house has a separate front door). This configuration may suit a mixed party of two families or an elderly couple accompanied by younger family. No smoking in the house please.
Accessibility
Situated on the level road there is ample parking with no steps from car to door (about 5 yards on the flat). The house is suitable for people with mobility problems with but not wheelchairs. Situated 2 mins by car from the motorway junction and 25 minutes by car from the airport.
Outside
Garden with large totally private south facing covered courtyard with large gas BBQ (ample gas supplied), large solid pine dining table with seating for 12 people 8 sun chairs and sun loungers. Garden games, swing ball, croquet, boules. South facing balcony with table and chairs ideal for tea while watching the local wildlife, (birds and butterflies). The garden has orange trees, banana trees and flowers and is forested to the north, east and west but is open to the south and has views of the river valley and of the surrounding wooded hills.
Coast/Beach
5 mins by car to the local quiet sandy bay which is 800 yards wide with a life guard and beach bars, toilets and showers in the high season (blue flag). A favourite surfing beach. The beaches in this area are similar to those of Cornwall and there are many within a 20 min drive.
Skiing
3 ski resorts within 90 mins drive. San Isidro, Valgrande and Leitariegos. Very reasonable prices for ski and equipment hire.
Travel
Aviles (Asturias) airport is 25 minutes by car (Easyjet from Stansted). Car hire is essential and all the major car hire companies operate from Aviles airport. Ranon is a 2½ hour drive west from the Santander ferry port. The whole of the north coast of Spain is served by a narrow gauge railway system. Our station is 500 yards away. ALSA is the national bus service for Spain and our bus stop is 400 yards away.Santiago de Compostilla airport is 2½ hours drive (Ryanair from Liverpool).

Village bar is 300 yards. Small local town of Trevias is 4km. Fishing town of Luarca is 10km away. Fishing town of Cudillero 25km away. 3 ski centres within 90 mins by car. Picos de Europe National Park 90 mins away by car. Oviedo (County Capital) 45 mins away by car or can be visited by narrow gauge railway from local station 500 yards away. Aviles, 30 mins away by car.
Further details
Our nearest bar is in the village 300 yards away. It is a basic local pub where all the locals drink and socialise. Our nearest restaurant is one kilometer away (2 mins in car) with a "menu del dia" which gives you as much good food as you can eat (3 courses) and as much wine as you can drink all for £5 in a lovely dining room.
After your meal you can relax in the pub over coffee and brandy with the friendly locals. Trevias, local small town with health centre (doctors), chemist shop, supermarket, butcher, baker, banks with cash machines, bars and restaurants. Please note that this area is very Spanish and little English is spoken but the local people are very friendly and will try very hard to help you.
Luarca, the local fishing town is a lovely place has many bars and restaurants around the harbour area and in the town. It also has lots of shops and supermarkets with a wide range of foods. The street market is on Wednesdays but parking is in short supply.
The town has two sandy beaches one inside the outer harbour which is great for young children. You can park next to the beach and eat at the beach bars there. Cudillero, local fishing village with lots of seafood restaurants. If you like seafood you will love this place. You can park next to the fish market and walk into the village where you can sit under an umbrella for shade and eat the freshest seafood banquet ever!
Aviles, has a wonderful medieval town centre with a wide range of markets, shops, bars and restaurants. It has a huge underground car park and you can emerge right into the old town centre where menu del dia restaurants abound so for about 8 to 10 euros you can eat and drink as much as you want. Just call for another bottle of wine and it's included free in the price. Activities - surfing, swimming, fishing, canoeing, white water rafting, gorge scrambling, mountain biking, quad biking, horse riding, fell walking, mountaineering (8500ft), skiing (3 resorts within 90 mins)
