This corner penthouse apartment is light and airy with air-conditioning or ceiling fans in each room for those hot summer days. For Winter bookings and those odd few chilly days, the apartment is kept snug and warm by variable heat settings of the dual air-conditioning. Guests are asked NOT TO SMOKE inside the apartment.

Accessibility
This property is not suitable for people with mobility problems as there are a number of access stairs and also stairs within the apartment to reach the solarium.

Outside
There is plenty of private outside terrace space for dining and sunbathing where you can always find a sunny spot, or shade if you prefer. There is also space for lounging around the communal pool, which is in a private gated area. It is never too busy and very safe for children under supervision. The sea is 2mins and the water is crystal clear - great for snorkeling & water sports. Playa El Calon is appealing to fishing and walking enthusiasts because of its natural, unspoilt qualities.

Coast/Beach
The apartment is just a short 2 min walk to the beach. This natural, undeveloped beach is ideal for quiet relaxation as it is still a bit of a secret with the Spanish locals and a nice spot can always be found. The beach bar is just 100m away and there is an aparthotel for snacks and drinks. If you want somewhere more 'lively' then San Juan de los Terrerros (5 mins drive) is the closest. Plenty going on there with shops, bars, restaurants plus fiestas and Sunday market during the summer months.

Golf
Numerous golf courses are within easy reach. The 4 main courses are Desert Springs, Valle de Este, Marina de la Torre and Cortijo Grande. The Desert Springs complex also has restaurants, pool area with children's activities, tennis and gym. Valle de Este boasts restaurant and wellness centre for massages, beauty treatments, steam and sauna etc.

Skiing
Skiing is available in Sierra Nevada, Grandad (2.5 hours drive) - seasonally November to early May.

Travel
Closest airports are Almeria & Murcia both approx 1 hour drive, serviced by budget airlines RyanAir, Easyjet and Monarch. A little further away we have Alicante and Granada, approx 2.5 hours drive. Car hire is essential when visiting this area as public transport is very limited and there are many interesting places to visit. There are good motorway links to this region from all directions. The newly built motorway from Murcia airport is a toll road with little traffic and well worth the cost.

Distances
The apartment is situated midway between the 2 large Playa resorts of Mojacar and Aguillas, approx 20 mins each way. Mojacar Playa is the place for trendy boutiques and bars. Closer to the apartment are the smaller resorts of San Juan de los Terreros and Villaricos, approx 5 mins and 8 mins respectively. Numerous places of interest including museums, castles and historic villages can be found in the above mentioned resorts. Cabo Gato National Park is approx 1hr drive.

Further details
During the summer months sailing and boat trips depart from the harbour of the nearby town of Garrucha including mini cruises to Cabo de Gata National Park. Professional diving instruction is available at Villaricos and Mojacar (details of request). Mini Hollywood (2 hours drive) recreates the magic of the Wild West at the site where many films were shot. There are horse riding and gunfight shows daily at noon and 5pm. Details of other activities including go-carting, horse riding and yoga retreat are available on request.

Booking notes
Booking deposit £100 or 25% of total cost (whichever is the greater). Balance payable 6 weeks prior to arrival. For late bookings less than 6 weeks prior to arrival, the total amount is payable on booking. A £100 breakage deposit is payable with the final payment which will be returned via electronic transfer within 7 days after rental, when our local agent confirms no damage, breakages or losses. Winter Long-lets Welcome at 395 euros per month. Strictly no smoking inside the apartment.

Aug'10. MB We had a good holiday thank you, albeit the weather was sometimes a bit too hot for us! The apartment was very good indeed- We loved the galleried lounge especially, and it was very clean. We also loved the area for that fact that it is mostly unspoilt / non-commercialized.
