Two semi detached town houses modernised in traditional way with white walls, tiled floors and wooden shutters. The houses are in the centre of a quiet village. The rear courtyard contains patio areas and a pool (6x3m). Both houses also have large roof terraces with views across the Lecrin Valley. The houses were modernised in 2007 with fully fitted kitchens with fridge/freezers, washing machines etc. Acequias is on the edge of the Sierra Nevada national park. It is only minutes from the motorway providing easy access to the facilities of Durcal and Niguelas and to the coast, Granada, and the Alpujarras. Excellent walking country.

Notes on accommodation
Both houses have wood burning stoves. Although there is no air conditioning, fans are provided. The pool has steps inset and a shallow end, but quickly slopes to the deep end at 6 feet. The pool is visible from both kitchens and the roof terraces so kids can be watched.

Accessibility
Cars can be driven to the doors. The main doors have only a small step. Casa Jessica is on 2 levels but the configuration means that the ground floor has bedrooms, bathrooms and lounge on one level, with only a small step to the patio/pool.

Outside
The rear of the property is a patio with a pool. The pool is approximately 6x3m. This is for sole use of the occupants of the two houses and is not overlooked. The area is in full sun for much of the day. There is a shower. There is an ancient vine that provides shelter from the sun.

Coast/Beach
35km to beach at Salobreña. 45km to range of beaches in and around Almuñecar. Both towns offer considerable range of amenities but there are also less developed less commercial resorts such as Calahonda further east a similar distance away.

Golf
A total of 3 golf courses are at Salobreña (30km on the coast)and Padul/Alhendin (15km towards Granada).

Skiing
The ski resort at Sierra Nevada is 45 mins drive from the house. There are a range of runs and the resort has been expanding every year. It is famous for the ability to ski in sunny weather in Spring until May.

Special interest holidays
Acequias is adjacent to the main GR1 footpath with well defined trails into the Sierra Nevada mountains.

Travel
Granada airport is 35 mins drive, flights with Ryanair, Iberia, Spanair and Monarch. Malaga airport is 1 hour 35 mins drive (and getting closer when the coast motorway is finished), with a wide variety of flights from many regions of the UK. Almeria and Madrid airports are also useful alternatives.

Distances
Granada is 30km and 20 mins drive. Orgiva, the gateway to the Alpujarra is 20km and 30 mins drive, Lanjaron is closer, as are the many towns and villages of the Valley of Lecrin, including Lecrin, Durcal (5km many restaurants and supermarkets) and Niguelas (just a 3km walk away).

Further details
Acequias does not have any shops or bars (it's that peaceful) but bread is delivered daily, and eggs, fish, meat, watermelons etc (depending on what is in season) delivered by local traders who service the villages of the Lecrin Valley. Durcal is a 5 minute drive and has three supermarkets, many restaurants and bars and other shops, banks, internet cafe etc. Niguelas is the nearest village (a lovely 20 minute walk) with a couple of shops and bars. Granada is only 20 minutes along the motorway and there is a Carrefour hypermarket there. There are some stupendous drives - the Alpujarras, the Sierra Nevada ski resort, and the back way from Almunecar, lots of places to visit.
