The villa is situated a short distance away from a huge pine forest where you can go for a picnic, walking and mountain biking. Ginesta is just a 10 minute walk to the nearest beach of Riells and a short car drive to the beaches at Montgo and Ampurias. All beaches are of soft sand and Blueflag. Great beach bars serving an assortment of food and drinks. Lifeguards and first aid posts on all beaches. L'Escala old town has retained its character and charm and has many interesting shops and excellent restaurants.

Coast/Beach
Fabulous and varied beaches. There is a land train which will take you along the coast from one beach to the other. Soft sandy beaches. Riells 10 mins walk, Ampurias and Montgo 10 mins by car or 30 mins walk. Also great areas for windsurfing, snorkelling and diving (classes available). Lifeguards and first aid posts on all beaches. Super beach bars and cafes.

Golf
Around LŽEscala there are 7 major golf courses: Times taken by car Emporda 36 holes 15 mins. Serra de Pals 18 holes 20 mins. Pals 18 holes 25 mins. St Julia de Ramis Girona 18 holes 30 mins. PGA Catalunya 27 holes 40 mins. Perelada 18 holes 35 mins. Torremirona 18 holes 35 mins. Plus 3 x Par 3 courses all within 30 mins drive.

Skiing
1œ hour drive finds you at the nearest Ski station Valter 2000. Rental of equipment available at good prices (daily rate).

Travel
Flying: Barcelona 1.45 hours drive, Girona 40 mins drive and Perpignan 1 hour drive. Also good rail and coach connection to Figueres and Girona.

Distances
Catalunya is a very cultural/historical area and we are blessed with many places of interest. Barcelona, Girona, Figueres (Dali museum), Cadaquez, Ampurias Roman/ Greek ruins (In summer, fab outdoor concerts held), Banyoles (beautiful lake), Garrotxa Volcanic region, Pals, Besalu, La Bisbal (famous for ceramics). Nature lovers-we have a super wetland-Aiguamolls with its assortment of wildlife. Use LŽEscala as your base and whether relaxing on the beach or exploring the area, you can't go wrong!

Further details
In LŽEscala everything is at your fingertips supermarkets, banks, restaurants etc. You can hire bicycles, take quad bike excursions into the surrounding forests, go-carting, crazy golf, snorkelling, windsurfing, sailing and diving for experienced and novice divers (there are several registered training centres). From the marina you can take a cruise to Cadaquez or to the Isles Medes.
