Zahara beach - one minute from the house

The house is in an excellent location beside the magnificent sandy beach on the outskirts of the village of Zahara de los Atunes. A minute's walk through the dunes brings you to the beach, which is broad and flat with clear shallow water, making it ideal for families. The house is on 3 floors with an attractive tiled staircase linking each floor. There are two outside terraces on the top floor, both with sea views, and a sheltered patio area at the front of the house fully equipped with terrace furniture. The interior of the house is clean, light, and comfortably furnished. At ground level there is a sheltered patio area at the front of the house, fully equipped with terrace furniture, and another small patio with washing line at the back.

Coast/Beach
The beach is a two minute walk from the house - all you need to do is pick up your towel and walk through the dunes. Zahara is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday - you can swim, sunbathe and walk for miles along the golden sand. The sea is often a turquoise blue and the sunsets spectacular.

Travel
Gibraltar is approx. 50km, Jerez 75km, Malaga 180km and Seville 150km.
A hire car is an asset if you wish to explore the area surrounding Zahara, but location of the house allows you to have an enjoyable holiday without one if you arrange a pickup from the aiport.
There are several shops within a five minute walk of the house, including two pharmacies and a bakery. Should you wish to travel further afield then buses run from Zahara to Tarifa, Cadiz, Barbate and Vejer.

Distances
Drive to the pretty hilltop town of Vejer (20 mins), the atmospheric city of Cadiz (1 hour) or spend some time in Tarifa (30 mins), an ancient Moorish town which is the most southerly point in Europe. Tarifa is popular with windsurfers, which gives it a cosmopolitan atmosphere (enjoyed by teenagers).
From Tarifa you can take a ferry to Tangiers in Morocco (only 35 mins) or go on a boat trip to view whales and dolphins.
The city of Seville is a drive of approximately 2 hrs.

Further details
The unspoilt countryside around Zahara is one of the most biologically diverse areas in Europe. For this reason it is used as a base for biology fieldtrips by several English universities, as well as by companies specialising in birding and wildlife holidays. There are the remains of a Roman settlement at nearby Bolonia - it is possible to walk there along the coast from Atlanterra (approx 3 kms from Zahara). Take this walk in Springtime and enjoy the abundance of wild flowers.
