The villa is in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada with views all round of the mountains. Whether you enjoy relaxing, walking, horseriding, swimming, fishing, golf it is all widely available within easy reach. Durcal is half way between Motril on the coast and Granada. Durcal is a very friendly Spanish town where the locals are very welcoming and friendly. There is so much to enjoy within the Granada region it would be impossible to list it all, so I will list a few, The Alhambra, Granada City, Costa del Sol, Picasso Museum (Malaga), Ski resort, Rhonda, Cordoba, mountain villages of Orgiva and Lanjaron to name 2. There are many olive groves, almond trees and fruit throughout the valley.

Notes on accommodation
The swimming pool is not fenced off and there are stone and marble steps (stairs) throughout the house and garden.
Accessibility
As the house is built on sloping land there are many steps throughout.
Outside
Outside the backdoor (from the kitchen) there is a terrace with table and 6 chairs and barbeque. At the side of the house is the swimming pool (4m x 7m) which is private. The pool is surrounded by sun terrace with table, chairs and sunbeds. The garden has fruit trees, grape vines and olive trees, if the fruit is ripe when you are there please eat it to save it going off!
Coast/Beach
The nearest beach is Motril (30 mins by car) this is a large quiet beach with a few beach resturants. There are many beaches along the coast to cater for all tastes. Salobrena, Almunecar, small coves to large commercial beaches of the Costa del Sol.
Golf
There are several golf course in the area, Padul 10 minutes, Granada 20 minutes and Motril 30 minutes.
Skiing
The ski resort is 45 mins away and is great to visit in the summer as well as the winter, as the cable cars are open all year to take you to the top of the Sierra Nevada, the highest ski resort in Europe.
Special interest holidays
There are gastronomic tours running from Granada, and one of the restaurants that they visit is in Durcal called Bio Durcal. There are several horse riding centres in the area. There are also organised walks throughout the Sierra Nevada and Alpujarras. To help recover from sunbathing or more strenuous activities the local bars serve cold beer, wine, coke with free tapas in many.
Travel
The nearest airport is Granada (30 mins) with Ryan air flights, Malaga is 1.5 hours away and Almeria 2 hours.
Distances
The villa is on the edge of Durcal just on the edge of the mountains. It takes 15 minutes to walk to the centre of the town. 2 mins by car. Granada is 20 minutes by car.
Further details
Durcal has several bars, restaurants, supermarkets, banks, bakers, butchers etc. Granada has everything. Just outside Granada is a waterpark with fresh water, Almunecar has a salt water, waterpark.

About the owner
We are a family of four from Northamptonshire, who love owning Casa Delfin, which is named after Flynn the Dolphin who lives on the bottom of the pool. We enjoy relaxed family holidays, good food, wine and the sunshine.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We picked the location as it is so peaceful, yet only 25 minutes from the beach and 45 minutes from the Sierra Nevada ski resort. Granada is a beautiful city which is only 20 minutes drive from the house and offers excellent restaurants, shopping, history and a unique atmosphere. On the outskirts you will find large supermarkets such as Carrefour and Alcampo. Durcal is situated is in the Lecrin Valley and is very close to the picturesque mountain villages of the Alpujara mountain region. The town itself offers individual shops such as bakers, butchers as well as a small but well stocked supermarket. There is a market in the town every Wednesday.
Unique benefits of the property
The property itself is outside Durcal in a small, quiet residential area, from which you can walk in to the town. The house has been furnished for our own holidays, so you will find everything that you need including comfortable beds, all linen including beach towels. The kitchen is fully equipped including a dish washer. There is a washing machine in the basement. We have free-to-air English TV channels, CD players, DVD players (films not provided) pool and table tennis tables, dart board, barbeque, a selection of books and games.
