Further details
Javea is a village in the province of Alicante. It is bordered by the slopes of the Montgo Mountain to the north and the ridge of the Benitachell Mountains to the south. The Montgo separates Javea from the neighbouring town of Denia, recognisable by its old castle on the hill. Javea village is situated at the foot of Montgo and is noted for the structure of its narrow streets and the white facades of the buildings. Javea has several beaches, the main one being Arenal beach. It has a wide horseshoe of golden sand. Monitored by the Red Cross beach patrol, there are the usual benefits of sea and sand for the young and old alike. Horse-riding, waterskiing, scuba-diving, jet skiing, windsurfing, go-karting, shooting and motor boats are for hire locally. In the evening for everyone's enjoyment, the bars and restaurants blaze with colour and the promenade begins to bustle with life.
There are fascinating drives inland into the mountains for breathtaking views and village life unchanged for centuries, and along the coast some lovely bays and rocky headlands. The next village along the coast is Altea. A typical fishing village with beautiful mountain views. Altea is also the residence of many artists and painters. You will find Cactus Land here, 1500 different Cacti and succulents can be seen. In contrast with the desert plants there are sub-tropical fruit trees, banana, avocado, sugar apple, pomegranate, orange and many others.
