The property is in a privileged hillside position, in the peaceful community of Peniscola. There is a private balcony around three sides of the property, with fantastic views. 1 mile from the historic old town, with its castle, shops, bars, restaurants and fishing harbour. Approx 1 mile from Blue Flag beaches. Spoilt for choice with busy family beaches with jet skis, banana boat rides, pedalos, football and volleyball, etc. The location provides the best of both worlds - walking distance to the town and beach, but far enough away to be able to escape the hustle and bustle. After a day at the beach or visiting the historic castle and old town, you can put your feet up and enjoy a cool drink from your balcony as you watch the boats return to the port. If you wish to brush up on your Spanish (or start to learn), lessons can be arranged. During high season you can use the large local community swimming pool with snack bar and bar.

Accessibility
This is a hillside apartment. Access from the road is only by stairs. Therefore, unfortunately, this property is not suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Private balcony around the property, with fantastic views. Chairs and garden table for use outside.
Coast/Beach
Approx 1 mile from Blue Flag beaches. With a five-kilometre long sandy beach, even in the height of summer, there is always space. Spoilt for choice with busy family beaches with jet skis, banana boat rides, pedaloes, climbing frames, football and volleyball, etc. to miles of quiet coves hidden amongst the rocky shores of Serra d'Irta natural park waiting for you to discover. Boat tours leave from the harbour.
Golf
Approx 20 minutes from Panoramica Golf Course, as designed by Berhard Langer. Including one of the largest driving ranges in Europe, Pitch and Putt, as well as a beautiful golf course.
Special interest holidays
Spanish tuition can be arranged to meet your requirements. Our Spanish teacher will come to the apartment for custom-tailored lessons, from complete beginners to University level. Can also arrange special "activity" lessons. Email for further information.
Travel
Barcelona 2 hours, Valencia 1 1/2 hr, Reus 1 1/4 hr - by car or train. Car hire is not essential, you can get a train from the airport, then a taxi from the train station. But a car is highly recommended to get the most out of your stay.
Distances
Approx. 1 mile to historic old town, with Castle, museum, bars, restaurants, shops, markets, beaches, fishing harbour, etc.1 1/4 hour's drive to Universal Studios' Port Aventura 1 hour to the ancient Roman city of Tarragona. 1/2 hour from Delta D'Ebre, for fantastic fishing, birdwatching, canoeing, adventure sports, etc. Less than 1 hour to many, many interesting medieval towns, natural parks, prehistoric caves, etc.

We are a couple with two grown children and we live in the outskirts of London. We love Peniscola and try to visit as often as we can - which is never enough!

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
Peniscola is a great place all year round. From spring until early autumn, the many little bars and restaurants in the old town tumble out onto the streets. Out of season, Peniscola makes a great place for a quiet break. With nearby Serra d'Irta, there are kilometres of walking trails to explore. The castle and old town really make Peniscola stand out from the other seaside towns and we knew from our first visit that this was the place for us. The surrounding area has so much to offer, too. Within day trip distance is: Port Aventura theme park, several beautiful and historic cities including Valencia, Tarragona, Tortosa (even Barcelona can be reached in two hours), many traditional Spanish villages seemingly lost in time, countryside for walking... I could go on!
Unique benefits of the property
We love the location of the apartment because of its great position on the hillside. We are far enough up the hill to get great views and a bit of peace and quiet, but close enough to the town to be able to walk home after a meal and a couple of drinks in the evening. We feel that we have found the perfect balance.
Although our property is an apartment, because of its situation on the hillside, we have our own entrance from outside and no immediate neighbours on any of the four sides.
