The Alpujarran hills of Southern Spain abound with natural beauty. From the snow-covered peaks of the Sierra Nevada, to forested valleys, waterfalls and orange and lemon groves, this is a landscape that uplifts and inspires. This land was once inhabited by the Moors and is rich in tradition. In this rural setting lies Cortijo la Era, just above Lanjarón, a Spa town which has been visited by aristocrats, poets and matadores since 1770. It is a short 15-minute walk along the track before you arrive to the balneario (spa) where one can sample the six different natural springs of healing mineral waters and enjoy the hydrotherapy treatments offered. The attractive studio apartment is attached to a renovated farmhouse, set among terraces of olive groves with views across the hills to the sea.

Changeover day
Saturday. Arrive after 5.00pm and depart at 10.00am. Flexibility of day is given according to availability.
Notes on accommodation
Bed linen and towels are provided (not beach towels).
Outside washing machine for studio use only.
Outside
The garden includes patios, terraces and a tiled, filtered pool (10 x 4) that is shared with family however with guest priority.
A large barbecue with seating area, sink and kitchen utensils. This is located by the pool on the upper terrace with good lighting for evening meals and pool light for evening swims.
Garden furniture includes sun loungers, hamacs, tables and chairs.
Private parking.
No pets allowed.
Two-minute stroll to collect spring water.
Coast/Beach
There are some beautiful beaches and bays to be found 30 minutes drive away from Lanjarón.
Skiing
The Sierra Nevada ski resort is 1 hour away from Lanjarón. The resort is open from December through to March with over 80 kilometres of pistes suitable for beginners and experienced skiers.

Travel
Granada Airport - 50 minutes, Málaga - 2 hours, Almería - 2 hours.
Car hire is available at the airports. Please note that although the Alpujarras has a good bus service with modern coaches, car hire is recommended so that the whole region can be enjoyed.

Granada - Alhambra (Moorish palace) 40 minutes.
Córdoba and Sevilla 2 hours 30 mins.

The farmhouse belongs to Rakhi and Eduardo who have 2 children (Lucas 18 and Ayelén 14 years). Rakhi is a qualified reflexologist and meditation teacher who works in the Balneario (Spa) in Lanjarón and currently studies Ayurveda, Eduardo runs the local language school in Orgiva. They are happy to offer any of these services to guests if they wish. In Lanjarón one can sample the local produce - olives, ham, cheese, wine - and enjoy the many restaurants and cafe-bars. This is an ideal base from which to explore the high mountains of the Sierra Nevada and to enjoy walking, horse-riding, mountain-biking, paragliding and skiing. The historic city of Granada with the exquisite Alhambra Palace is only 40 minutes drive away.

A deposit of 20% of the total cost is required when booking - the balance is due 4 weeks before arrival.
