Notes on accommodation
All apartments have air-conditioning with heating. Secure parking space under ground. Access via lift or stairs. South facing terraces. Children welcome, with child's pool and park area only a stroll away. Additional equipment supplied such as iron, ironing board, bottle openers and much more.
Accessibility
The apartments are fully accessible for wheelchair users with ramps on the ground floor entrances and lifts to the apartments. The living space terrace are all on the same level so there is no problem moving around except for the small threshold at the bottom of the patio door. There are two toilets each easily accessible but not specially adapted for the disabled.
Outside
The apartment is situated within phase 2 of a 5 star complex only 200m from the beach. The complex has a communal pools, bars, sports centre, tennis courts, beach to the large laguna lake, park/play area, grassed areas with palm trees. Quiet, peaceful and tranquil. The terrace has table and chairs and has views of the Mediterranean sea.
Coast/Beach
The blue flag beach is only a 200m walk from the apartments, the stretch of beach is 5km long. The promenade runs all the way along the beach through to the marina and beyond and is highly developed with ornate street lamps, beach showers and toilet facilities are available. The safest, shallowest and most popular beaches are next to and on either side of Almerimar marina. More highly manicured beaches are accessible after a drive of about 30 minutes to the east.
Golf
Almerimar is famous for its Gary Player designed golf course which has recently had a further 9 holes added making it 27. The course can supply all clubs, bags and buggies where required. The course is approx 5 minute drive (to the club house) where you can get a meal and drink in the restaurant. For golfers there is 3 other golf courses withtin a 20 - 30 min drive from Almerimar, so plenty for the keen golfing group or society.
Skiing
Skiing is availabe at Sierra Nevada from November through till March. This is near Granada and is approx 2 hour drive away on superb mountain motorways. Sierra Nevada is the largest resort in Spain and has held a Skiing World Cup. The skiing area is excellent and inexpensive with plenty of daylight to extend your skiing to nearly 17.00 hours even in January. There is usually plenty of sunshine but the high altitude ensures cold snow with little ice on the pistes even on the sunniest days. The transport to the main skiing area is by gondola and it's nearly always possible to ski back down to the village at the end of the morning's or day's skiing.
Travel
Car hire is recommended to make getting around easy. Almeria airport is 20 miles away with great car hire facilities at very cheap prices, and is served by many airlines including Easyjet, Monarch and Ryannair. Malaga Airport is about 2 hours away to the west along roads that are fast being developed to make the journey time much quicker. The local roads are excellent with no external traffic in the resort making the roads calm and mostly quiet.
Distances
The main Marina is 1.5 miles away via road (about 45mins walk down the beach). The Marina is the largest in Andalucia mooring over 1300. The marina is the place to go with its numerous bars, restaurants, shops, markets, internet cafe, banks and a large supermarket. Sierra Nevada Ski Resort - 2.5 hours on excellent motorways. Almeria about 25 minutes. El Ejido about 10 minutes. Motril about 1 hour. Malaga about 2 hours. Madrid about 7 hours.
Further details
There is a very large Copo supermarket 10 minutes away by car north next to the main east-west motorway with everything you need for excellent home feasting. Alternatively there is an excellent Mercadona supermarket in the marina just 5 minutes away by car.
