The El Pinar hillside is the beautiful pine-covered backdrop to the village of Las Fuentes and the town of Alcossebre on Spain’s Costa del Azahar (Orange Blossom Coast). Our fully equipped and beautifully furnished apartment is set on the south facing hillside of El Pinar with spectacular views over the Mediterranean sea, Las Fuentes marina, beaches and coastline of the town of Alcossebre. This penthouse apartment is the top floor of private Villa 'Castillo de Azahar' and has been newly prepared this summer offering an idyllic peaceful location just a few minutes drive away from the beaches, restaurants and town. The apartment is fully furnished with indoor and outdoor terrace dining areas, and a large private sun terrace - all with amazing views of the coastline. Guests have access to a superb community swimming pool set amongst the pines and probably the area’s best restaurant 'The El Pinar' only a short walk away.

Changeover day
Guests are asked to vacate the property by 11am on day of departure to allow cleaning changeover to take place before arrival of further guests.

Notes on accommodation
Ample parking is available on the roadside outside the villa and the penthouse apartment is accessed by its own staircase leading up from the main gate entrance.

Accessibility
There is no wheelchair access to this apartment as it is located on the top floor accessible only by stairs.
Outside
Large garden terrace with extending table and 6 chairs, 4 sunbeds/loungers with parasols and BBQ. Guests have use of the superb El Pinar private community pool with shaded pine tree surroundings and landscaped gardens for sunbathing. The pool is open in July/August. The pool is very large with shallow areas for children and large deeper area for adult swimming. The pool has a lifeguard on site at all times and there are toilet/changing facilities just next to the pool. The pool is 2 minutes drive from the apartment or about 10 minutes walk. The villa and terrace is full of character and the beautiful gardens surrounding the villa on the hillside have grown naturally with cacti, rosemary, small pines and palms. The property is accessed along a drive which ends ½ km along from the apartment so there is no through traffic, adding to the tranquility. The hillside is home to wild boar and pine martens amongst a host of other wildlife.
Coast/Beach
El Pinar is in an ideal geographical location for lovers of the sea, with breathtaking views of the many local ‘blue flag’ beaches from the apartment, with the nearest just 5 minutes drive away in Las Fuentes and Alcossebre, where you can enjoy over 300 days of sun each year with an average temperature of 26 degrees in summer and 18 degrees in winter. Otherwise explore the coastline for more remote beaches or head to other nearby popular beaches of Peniscola, Vinaros and Benacassim.
Golf
Panoramica and Mediterraneo - two of the region's finest championship courses are within easy reach and provide a great test for all levels of golfers. Golf Panoramica (near Vinaros) was designed by Bernhard Langer over 12 years ago and has now matured into one of Europe’s finest golf courses, playing host to the 2005 and 2006 LPGA Tour Spanish Open. Club Mediterraneo near Castellon is Sergio Garcia's home club and is another excellent challenge.
Travel
Most major and budget airlines (BA, Easyjet, Ryan Air, Monarch etc) have flights regularly to Valencia which is just over an hour’s drive. Ryan Air fly twice a day to Reus airport from London Stansted, Luton and from Dublin offering very good deals at all times of the year. Reus airport is approximately 90 minutes north via the AP7 Motorway. Barcelona airport (which has excellent international airline connections) is around 2 hours drive. Car hire is essential.

Valencia - 1hr 10 minutes. Barcelona - 2hrs. Reus - 1hr 30minutes. Universal Theme Park (Salou) - 1hr 30minutes.
Further details
A very short distance from the apartment is 'El Pinar' restaurant, a superb restaurant and cuisine with wonderful views, considered the best in the area. In the town Las Fuentes and Alcossebre have many fine restaurants - fabulous food at the '21 Club', on the beach is the Michelin recommended 'Can Roig'. Vinaros is the local fishing port town, bringing in fresh fish every day with King Prawns a local speciality. There is a fantastic market in next to the seafront in Vinaros where you can purchase fresh fish, fruit and vegetables and is colourful with a wonderful atmosphere. Restaurants and bars are all along the seafront with excellent shopping in the town centre and plenty of large supermarkets on the road to the golf course. Benicarlo (next to Vinaros) is also a seafaring town with the Nautical Resort providing a great variety of watersports –including canoeing, sailing, snorkling, diving and water skiing. Morella is the medieval capital city of the region El Ports and is an interesting ancient walled town high in the mountains (approx 80 mins drive). Ulldecona reservoir is an area of great natural beauty, ideal for hill walking and bird watching along with cave paintings at Polvori Cave. Barcelona city is 2 hours by car (Valencia is 1 1/4 hours)or both are easily accessible by train from Benicarlo. Both are fantastic cities that must be visited during your stay. A few kilometers along the coast is Peniscola old Medieval town with walls and fortifications surrounding the white washed houses and Peniscola Castle that housed the controversial 15th century Pope Benedict XIII. Peniscola has 7 kilometres of beautiful beaches with a lively atmosphere and many night spots. It also hosts the Classical Music Season and International Comedy Festival each year. Columbretes Islands can be visited by a sea trip. These volcanic islands are a protected nature reserve but organised visits are available.

A 25% deposit is payable (non refundable) on booking with balance of 75% payable 4 weeks prior to arrival. A damage protection deposit of £100 must be paid at this time with the balance due.
