Finca Ladera (Hillside House) was a genuine old country barn, transformed into a finca in 1999. Retaining it's character, the present owners have fully refurbished it, with every luxury, including full air conditioning and 2007 was the first year this glorious house was made available for holiday rental. The house, terraces, pool and gardens are set within its own 6000sqm of land, securely enclosed by unobtrusive fencing, with its impressive walled and gated entrance, leading to the parking area at the front of the property. This superb location, surrounded by mountain views, olive and orange groves is ideally suited for those who want privacy and tranquillity, yet be within easy reach of all that Andalucia has to offer: whitewashed mountain villages, quaint old market towns, many famous beauty spots (including Ronda, The Lakes and Mijas) as well as the famous coastal resorts, such as Marbella and Puerto Banus, on the Mediterranean's Costa del Sol.

Changeover day
NO set changeover day so you can opt for the cheapest flights! Arrival is from 4pm. Departure by 10am (these can be flexible in non-busy times). The owners will be available to welcome you, show you around, and hand over the keys for your stay.

Notes on accommodation
Finca Ladera is an all year-round holiday venue with full air-conditioning for the summer and full gas-fired central heating for the winter, plus wireless INTERNET access INCLUDED in your rental ! (Even with 320 days approx. of sunshine, the winter nights can be very chilly!). With pool heating available in winter, this is an ideal holiday choice for families at any time! NB: Electricity, gas, water & Internet are included in the rental.
The owners live on site, in totally separate accommodation, detached from the main house. They are there to welcome you, show you around and hand over the keys. They do not intrude into your privacy but do all possible to ensure your comfort, and are available to help with information, if asked. They can provide baby-sitting, if parents wish to enjoy an occasional evening out on their own.
Accessibility
We regret that Finca Ladera is not considered suitable for those with mobility problems.
Outside
The splendid views surround the entire property, which is situated within its own land, measuring in excess of 6000sqm.
Outside dining area on the terrace with a large, gas BBQ. Sunbeds and parasols by the pool, plus an African-style gazebo with seating area, at the far end of pool, offering shade from the sun.
Exterior lighting and floodlit pool for those midnight swims!
The very spacious, covered terrace, offers a large dining area and family-size gas-fired BBQ. There is also comfortable seating here and at the far-end of the pool, under the charming gazebo. The gardens are maintained fortnightly by a gardener and the swimming pool filters and chemistry are checked daily.
An additional fee of 75 euros per week is charged for those requiring the pool heating. The pool's depth is 1.5metres, graduating to 1.6, so we'd advise parents that young children need to be carefully supervised when outside.
Coast/Beach
Our nearest beach is at La Cala de Mijas, which is 25 mins drive away. This remains an oasis - it's never over-crowded as its better known neighbouring resorts of Fuengirola and Benalmadena. It's a sandy beach with only two or three beachside restaurants/bars. Ideal for children to play safely and parents can keep a close eye on them whilst sitting in the shade of the restaurants' terraces, eating or sipping their drinks. Marbella and Puerto Banus are just a 15 mins' drive along this coast.
Golf
The Alhaurin Golf complex with courses designed by Seve Ballesteros! is only 5km away, and the famous Lauro and Mijas courses are also closeby.
Travel
Malaga airport is 17 miles / 28km approx / 30 mins by car.
Finca Ladera is 1km along a small, quiet road which leads off the A404 (recently changed from the A366) and links Coin to Alhaurin el Grande. Nearby, is the junction with the A355 which is the main Marbella-Cartama road.
Distances
Finca Ladera is situated half way between Coin and Alhaurin el Grande 5km to each of these charming, historic towns, which both offer a multitude of shops, banks, restaurants, tapas bars, discos, weekly markets and the numerous fiestas. The famous hillside village of Mijas is within 20 mins drive. The Lakes an area of outstanding natural beauty are just over an hour's drive. Ronda a renowned beauty spot, town is an 1.5 hour's drive. Granada and Seville 2-3 hours.
Further details
There is a restaurant at the top of the small road (1km easy walking distance) but a car is essential for reaching all other amenities, including the nearest supermarket 5km away. This area is renowned for it's beauty, with many artistic associations. Ceramic items are a traditional craft, and the Picasso Museum is in Malaga, as Picasso lived and worked here. The area is also famous for its horses, and horse-riding is a traditional pastime. There are many riding schools around, with the best known adjoining the nearby Alhaurin Golf Hotel. A beautiful new shopping centre, 'La Trocha,' is 5 kmls away, and offers a further selection of shops, bank, supermarket, restaurants, a department store, hair & beauty salons, a terrace bar/nightclub and a 7-studio cinema complex. There's fishing (freshwater and sea-fishing) and it's a haven for walkers. Tennis is available locally, and the activities offered along the coast are too numerous to list but include Sea World, at Benalmadena and deep sea diving and water-skiing at Fuengirola.
Gibraltar can be reached within 1.5 hours, and here you can take boat rides to see the dolphins, or a daytrip across to North Africa, or a drive to see the famous Barberry Apes, as well as taking advantage of the tax-free shopping. Whilst the area has become known for its coastal resorts and golfing, in recent years, there is a multitude of other pleasures to be enjoyed, and so much else to do and see... traditional Flamenco dancing and the frequent, colourful fiestas offer a taste of the real, traditional Andalucia.

About the owner
David and I retired and left the UK in 2003, to explore Spain, North to South, searching for just the right place. We left our married sons and grandchildren, in the UK, to find our dream home, and a place that they'd all love to come to for holidays. We found it!
Finca Ladera is our home and we let out the glorious main house with its enormous (50 x 12 ft!) pool and terraces, to holiday guests, all year round.
We totally refurbished the property in 2007, to include every possible luxury, including heating for the pool (needed only in winter) FULL air-conditioning / central heating, Wireless Internet, UK Satellite TV and everything else a family of 7 (PLUS baby facilities) could possibly desire!
Many guests return, now booking a year in advance to ensure their summer dates!
