Traditional stone built farmhouse tastefully restored by the owners David and Diana Worthy who for many years ran Crich Pottery in Derbyshire. Situated in a unique location in this beautiful part of rural Andalucia, Southern Spain, on the edge of El Torcal Natural Park, close to town amenities it provides a perfect base for all kinds of outdoor activities whilst retaining the atmosphere of a peaceful mountain retreat. Ideally situated near the ancient town of Antequera for day trips to Seville, Cordoba, Granada. Only 40 mins drive from Malaga airport, one hour from Granada airport. Great for cycling, climbing, walking, birdwatching, horse riding or just simply relaxing by the pool with stunning views to the coast and surrounding sierras.The owners David and Diana have created a perfect rural environment in which along with their accommodation they now keep Alpacas, which guests are welcome to see and enjoy along with all their other wonderful four legged friends on their farm.

Notes on prices
Please note -the rates listed above are for the Cortijo. The rates for the Casita are half those shown i.e. High season Casita £450 per week Mid Season Casita £325 per week and Low Season Casita £180 per week All prices are in UK Pounds sterling.
If heating should be required during Winter months there is a supplement of £95 per week for central heating in the Cortijo and €13 per gas bottle / portable gas heater in the Casita. PLEASE email or phone for availability.
Changeover day
Would prefer Saturdays but can be flexible with days and times.

Notes on accommodation
Cortijo has central heating radiators for winter use. (There is a supplement of £95 per week if heating is required). The Casita has portable gas heaters ( 15 euro charge for gas bottles if required). Perfect environment for children, with child friendly steps to the pool 1m shallow end, 2m deep end. Lots of friendly animals alpacas, donkeys , dogs, cats, peafowl,turkeys, hens, far away from busy roads so children are able to play safely.Cots and High chair are available if required and a babysitting service can be offered for a small fee.
Accessibility
Cortijo can be accessed without steps .There is one double bedroom on ground floor. Although not specially constructed for wheelchair users accessibility should not present a big problem. The Casita does have steps to access both the living areas and bedroom.
Outside
Property has a large outdoor patio area with tables, chairs, sun shade, parasols and gas BBQ. Casita patio is private and gated for keeping small children or pets in (out)!
Swimming pool is 7x 4 m private for all guests. Lots of outdoor space. Step outside and you are straight into the open countryside.
Coast/Beach
Beaches are 40 mins drive away at Malaga.
Golf
Antequera Golf Hotel 20 mins drive away. Championship 18 hole course with daily Green fees from 35 euros.
Travel
Malaga airport is 40 mins away, Granada airport 1 hour away.
Would strongly recommend car hire. Airport pick up can be arranged.

Nearest village Villanueva de la Concepcion 3km. Nearest main town Antequera, 20 km. Granada 1 hour drive. Cordoba 1 1/2 hour drive. Seville 2 hour drive.
Further details
Villanueva de la Concepcion has ATM machines, numerous supermarkets, post office, banks, 24 medical care, swimming pool and sports centre and many bars / restaurants. Antequera has bigger supermarkets, lots of international restaurants and many historical buildings. El Torcal natural park is right on our doorstep, great for walking, climbing, birdwatching; see Griffon vultures and Imperial Eagles, along with Ibex. Nearby is The Wolf Park where you can see many types of Wolf, also there is horse riding and a small petting zoo for children.

About the owner
Diana and I moved out to Spain in 2005 after many years running our own ceramics business in Derbyshire, ( Crich Pottery ). Our children were all flown the nest and we were ready for a new challenge.Finding Cortijo La Solana and making it our new home has been hard work but we've never looked back.Surrounded by our many 4 legged friends - alpacas , donkeys , dogs etc we hope we have created a place that holidaymakers will enjoy as much as ourselves.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
After numerous cycle tours across Spain we would always home in on the stunningly beautiful and rugged mountains surrounding this part of Andalucia.So when we decided to relocate we chose to be here. It has the perfect rural location , just 3 km from town amenities but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of town life.Lying as it does on the "crossroads of Andalucia " the must see cities of Seville , Cordoba , Granada and Malaga are only a short drive away.
