A little further to the west is La Herradura, famous for crystal clear waters, and excellent watersport facilities, the Punta de la Mona cove (ideal dive site) and Marina del Este yacht harbour, and just beyond, is the naturist beach, Playa Cantarrijan.
Golf
Two 18 hole golf courses are within thirty minutes of the property.
Skiing
The Sierra Nevada Ski resort, which is located 32 km from the centre of Granada and is only a 45-minute drive from the property, has five months of snow with the ski season normally lasting from the beginning of December until the end of April or beginning of May. It has 61km of ski slopes with 45 pistes and 6 off-piste routes, 2 cable cars, 12 chair lifts and 5 ski lifts. The ski resort is open from 9am to 5pm although you can ski at night, at weekends and bank holidays. In 1996, it hosted the World Alpine Ski Championships. The highest summit of the Sierra Nevada range is Mulhacén at 3,481 metres, the highest ski lift and piste goes to just below Veleta which is at 3,398 metres. For those without car, a bus service runs from Granada bus station to Pradollana (ski village) between 8-9am every morning.
Travel
The nearest, increasingly popular airport is Granada international airport about 8km from the city. There are several bus services from the airport to the city centre, (then take a taxi to house), taxis (about 20 Euro) or, alternatively, you can hire a car - 20 minute drive to the house. Malaga international airport is still the main airport in the area; it is a 90 min drive to Granada by car (email for help with directions) or a bus ride away (hourly bus til 9pm from city bus station).
Distances
To the southeast are the Las Alpujarras chain of ancient villages including Trevelez (highest village in Spain, 90 minutes away), Yegen, Capileira, Lanjaron - the gateway to the Alpujarras and 30 min drive - and Orgiva. For these, take the A-44, direction Motril). Northwest of Granada, Moclin (35 kms) and Montefrio (65kms) are worth a visit, and southwest is Alhama de Granada (45 mins drive). The Sierra de Huetor National Park is 15 mins from the house, best accessed through Alfacar.
Further details
The house is in close proximity (5-10 mins) to a range of supermarkets (Calle Pages, Calle Agua), a daily open air fruit and veg market (plaza Larga), two banks with ATMs (Calle Pages), a number of pharmacies (Cjon Fajalauza, Calle Pages, Calle Panaderos), the numerous and varied restaurants, cafes and bars that adorn the Albayzin and a number of colourful ceramics, clothing and jewellery shops, many with a strong Moroccan influence. The cave bars of Sacromonte, only 10 mins walk, are a must see, and for wonderful authentic and free gypsy flamenco, check out Bar flamenco (approx. 5 mins along camino de Sacromonte) on Friday and Saturday nights, about 11pm. The city itself is also steeped in history and culture, with a rich and varied cultural, artistic calender and tradition and deserves as much exploration as possible. To walk, you can simply stroll downwards through the Albayzin, taking any combination of ancient lanes and you will very soon find yourself in downtown Granada. Or alternatively, take calle Pages, onto Cuesta del Chapiz and at the bottom, follow the road around to the right alongside Rio Darro on Paseo de Padre Manjon until you reach Plaza Nueva...looking up to your left as you stroll, or enjoying a drink and tapas in one of perfectly placed restaurants on the Paseo followed by an inescapable delve into at least one of the multi-coloured 'Aladdin's cave' shops along the route. Of course no visit to Granada is complete without also including the magnificent Alhambra Palace, the most visited monument in Spain and one of the most visited in the world. The palace is within walking distance of the house; From Calle Pages, go down Cuesta del Chapiz and at the bottom, cross the road, go over the tiny bridge, and take the steep Cuesta de los Chinos to the top. The whole walk should take about 30 mins and takes you to the entrance to the Alhambra Palace. if not up to the steep walk, head to Plaza Nueva and take the little red bus up the hill instead.

Guest comments
We had a lovely week in your house in Granada. Your house was very comfortable and charming. We enjoyed immersing ourselves in Spanish life and culture. The position of the house enabled us to walk into the Albaycin (The Moorish quarter) to shop and to enjoy the outdoor nightlife in the lively plazas. We also hired a car for the week and drove into the Alpujarras and the Sierra Nevada. On other days we drove to the seaside at Nerja and Almunecar. Thanks to your excellent guides and information we were also able to visit Alhama and the children particularly enjoyed a day at Aquaola water park in Granada! (The Young Family, UK).
Granada was amazing and your house was heavenly. Thank you so much, we all had an amazing time. Every room was beautifully decorated and very stylish, perfect for a group of girls going away to relax and detox, although there wasn’t much of that going on, we managed to fit so much in!
