Responsible Tourism - Casa Alvid advocates responsible tourism and is a responsible tourism property. All light-bulbs and appliances are energy efficient. Guests are encouraged to: - use energy efficient dishwasher/washing machine programmes. Use the selection of baskets and bags available for shopping - recycle paper, plastic and glass. There is no rubbish collection so recycled waste can be dropped at the many recycling and general rubbish collection points. A proportion of the land has been left as nature intended to encourage wild flowers, herbs and birds. Guests are expected not to litter the land.
Children - Casa Alvid is perfect for children due to the seclusion/size of the land. Railings on interior/exterior stairs. Parents wholly responsible for child safety. Advice pertaining to general safety at house. An English speaking person will meet you on arrival and take you to Casa Alvid. Same person on call if advice is needed.

Accessibility
Casa Alvid is ideal for people with limited mobility as most everything is on the ground and upper-ground level. Two bedrooms (one with bathroom en-suite) and second bathroom are on the upper-ground level with three steps up and olive-wood handrails. There are two steps to the kitchen with olive-wood handrails. Both showers have support rails. The living room is on the ground floor and opens onto the main terrace.

Outside
Main terrace with stone barbeque, dining table and chairs, sunbeds, hammock. Upper sun terrace with table and chairs. Rear terrace with wood-burning oven and dining/food preparation area. More garden furniture stored in large garage.

Coast/Beach
A CAR IS ESSENTIAL WHEN STAYING AT CASA ALVID.
At least six beaches are within 10 minutes drive from Casa Alvid, these include: Cala Moros, Platja de Santa Llucia, Platge de Morro de Gos, Cala Buena, Platge del Pont de l’Alia and Cap Roig. These beaches are never crowded even during the summer months. There are more than 30 secluded, unspoiled sandy beaches and pebble coves within 20 minutes drive of Casa Alvid.

Golf
Given the scarcity of water no further golf courses are permitted in Catalonia. The closest to Casa Alvid is Bonmont Golf Course, approximately 40 minutes drive.

Travel
The nearest airport is Reus (30 minutes drive)
Barcelona is 1.5 hours drive.
There is a new high speed AVE train between Madrid, Camp de Tarragona and Barcelona.
The closest main regular train station is Tarragona. Camp de Tarragona is the Ave station.
A car is essential to reach beaches and explore surrounding area.

Further details
Places of interest - El Perello was an important Roman settlement and remains exist including part of the Via Augusta roman road, bridges and wells. El Perello is also the site of pre-historical Cabra-Feixet rock paintings and it is the honey-making capital of Catalonia. The River Ebre is perfect for carp and catfishing and canoeing. There is a small car/foot ferry from Rasquera to Miravet, a hilltop medieval village with a Knights Templar castle and beautiful ceramics factory and museum. The Roman city of Tarragona has an Amphitheatre, Forum and the Passeig Arqueologic. Reus is the birthplace of Gaudi, the village of Horta de Sant Juan is where Picasso spent a lot of time and the village has a Picasso Museum. The Delte de l'Ebre Nature Park and Bird Protection area is home to over 100.000 birds of 300 species. The Delte has a Nature Reserve Information Centre, Eco Museum, Environmental Education Centre and Casa de Fusta that has a permanent exhibition of the Deltes ecosystem. Portaventura, one of the best adventure theme parks in Spain, is 30 minutes drive. Shops, supermarkets, banks - All produce can be sourced from local markets (there are over 17 weekly markets in the surrounding villages and towns) and independent shops in the near-by villages of El Perello and L’Ametlla de Mar. Banks are in all villages. There are several supermarkets in the surrounding villages, the best of which is Mercadona located in the Delte de l'Ebre. It is a wholly Spanish store, all employees are drawn from the local area, all produce is from Spain and the local region. Cafes, bars and restaurants - There are numerous cafes, bars and restaurants in the villages/surrounding areas.

Booking notes
On booking, a 20% non-refundable deposit is required. The remainder to be paid 4 weeks before commencement date together with a 120 Euro cleaning charge. Payment to be made by bank transfer only. We require a 200 euro cash deposit to cover damage or breakages, this is fully refundable at the end of the visit.
