El Tinao is a brand new house in the heart of the unspoiled village of Canar. The house is unique in the village, being the only property which retains a 'tinao' - a feature unique to Berber architecture which connects buildings on both sides of narrow village streets. Built in the traditional Alpujarran style, El Tinao is light and spacious, with high ceilings, chestnut beams and slate stone floors throughout. There are two terraces, one for outdoor dining and a BBQ, the other with sunloungers and a heated spa. Both, of course, have those wonderful soaring views over the village, high above Orgiva and across to the Sierra Lugar. On a clear day, you can even see the Rif Mountains in Morocco. It's easy to lose track of time in Canar, but don't worry - you can see the village clock tower from the terraces as well. It won't help you with the day of the week, but at least you'll know when to nip out to meet the bread van for croissants in the morning!

Discount of 10% for bookings of 2 weeks or more, with further discounts available of El Tinao is booked together with all or part of Casa Rif, Canar (s1613), or The Mill, Juviles. Short breaks of less than 1 week available all year.
Changeover day
Entirely flexible according to guests' requirements.

Accessibility
El Tinao is a three-storey house with stairs.
Outside
Terrace 1 - with heated spa for up to 4 people and sunloungers.
Terrace 2 - with dining table, chairs, parasol and BBQ.
Coast/Beach
The Costa Tropical with its main resorts of Salobrena and Almunecar is about 40 minutes away by car. There are loads of little secluded coves dotted along the coastline as well.
Golf
The nearest golf courses are in Salobrena or the south side of Granada city, both of which are about 40 minutes by car.
Skiing
The ski resort of Pradollano (Solynieve) in the Sierra Nevada is about 1 hour 15 minutes by car. The resort is usually open from November until early May.
Travel
Malaga and Almeria airports are 2 hours by car. Granada airport is 50 minutes by car.
Car hire is strongly recommended, and we will happily advise.
Distances
Orgiva - 7km, 10 minutes by car.
Granada city (Alhambra and Generalife) - 70km, 1 hour.
Costa Tropical (Salobrena) - 60km, 40 minutes.
Sevilla/Cordoba - both about 250 km, 3 hours.
Further details
Canar is a terrific base from which you can explore the local area on foot. The famous GR-7 walking route runs through the village, with a beautiful waterfall (El Dique) marking the half-way point to the next village of Soportujar (just over an hour away). If you're feeling more energetic, you can walk (or drive!) with a picnic up to the pine forest above Canar.
We provide free use of mountain bikes, along with copies of The Rough Guide to Andalucia, a detailed walking map and Jeremy Rabjohn's excellent 'Holiday Walks in The Alpujarra' which you can take with you whenever you're heading out.
Canar has 3 bars serving tapas and traditional Alpujarran meals. There is a well-stocked grocers (which even opens on Sundays!) and a pharmacy.
Booking notes
A 20% deposit is payable at the time of booking, with the balance payable on arrival. The deposit will be repaid on cancellation if the house is re-let.
