A warm welcome awaits you at Casa Martin, a privately owned new villa maintained to a high standard by the owners, built in a rustic style, blending into the natural surroundings. A truly tranquil setting amongst smallholdings of olive groves and grapevines, with the occasional goatherd passing by, but still only twelve miles from the coast. However there is so much more to Spain than the beach, so use Casa Martin as a good base to explore Andalucia, this is the real Spain. And at the end of the day, what could be better than relaxing in our jacuzzi with a glass of wine.

Guest comments
1)We spent a very pleasant 10 day break in this extremely comfortable well-equipped villa. The fixtures and fittings are of a high standard, we wanted for nothing. We were provided with a comprehensive pack of provisions. The villa is well situated in beautiful surroundings. If you love peace and quiet, birdlife and nature while being in easy reach of the coast and cultural destinations, then this is an ideal choice. We enjoyed the hot tub! We sat there, wine within reach, gazing up at the stars as the mist crept up the valley. Not bad for February! 2) Casa Martin is truly idyllic-best place I've stayed in Spain. The silence is quite deafening, but you're reminded that your hearing is intact by all the birdsong. The hoopoe's performed a wonderful dance around the pine tree as we enjoyed the hot tub, the perfect way to relax tired walking legs.3)We loved it so much the first time,we came back again. The place was spotless, well equipped and it really feels like home the second time around.

Owner profile

About the owner
We are a retired couple from Lincolnshire, who spend half the year living near to our rental property in rural Spain. We first visited here in 2001 and after renting a cottage three winters in a row, we chose to find our own place. We looked at a lot of houses that were not quite right, so embarked on a building project instead. The plot we chose lent itself well to two buildings, and the idea of having a rental house was born. The basic construction was done with the help of a builder, and we did the rest of the work ourselves - rendering in the traditional style, fitting out of interiors, terracing - we have learned many new skills!

Year purchased: 2004

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We didn't expect to buy a plot of land in the countryside. However, we fell in love with the fantastic views and peaceful location. We thoroughly enjoy the time we spend here, and there is plenty to discover in the local area. We are a short drive from popular beaches, pretty villages, some lovely parks, amongst other things – and at the end of the day we can return to the peace and quiet of a truly rural location with beautiful surroundings, and of course, the hot tub! Casa Martin is up the hill from our own house; only a short walk but the rental cottage is quite private. We are always happy to offer any advice or suggestions for day trips and are available if our guests need us, but unless they come down to see us we like to leave them to enjoy the house undisturbed.

Unique benefits of the property
We have tried to create a traditional Spanish country cottage but with modern comforts. We designed and fitted out Casa Martin knowing we would be living in it for a while ourselves before we had completed our own house, and always wanted it to feel like home for us and our visitors. This has been a very personal project and it means a lot to us for people to leave having had a good holiday in comfortable surroundings. When we are not here, the changeovers and keys are managed by a local English friend who lives ten minutes away and is always happy to provide assistance during your stay if you give her a call.
